The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action is seeking a Grant Writer and Coordinator.

About CPD + CPDA

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 53 affiliates in 34 states and Puerto Rico, and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position:

We are seeking a Grant Writer and Coordinator who will be a key part of our Development team, ensuring that CPD/A is stewarding and building its portfolio of institutional donors and foundations. The person in this role will work with staff across CPD/A to draft grant proposals and reports, develop content for fundraising requests and communications to institutional donors, coordinate proposals and report submissions to foundations, corporations, and government agencies, as well as conduct prospect research and assist with other development projects as needed.

This position will report to the Director of Development.

Primary Responsibilities

The Grant Writer and Coordinator will:

  • Collaborate with program leads and other CPD/A staff to outline, draft, and edit grant proposals and reports.

  • Help manage the organization’s growing grant portfolio to ensure timely submissions, with a focus on content gathering, data management, and developing timelines.

  • Develop and/or edit other institutional funder communications, such as presentations, webinars, and emails.

  • Support the grantseeking program by tracking timelines in Salesforce and other software.

  • Assist CPD/A’s Development team with fundraising research.

  • Provide excellent editing and proofreading for all grant materials.

  • Take on other special projects and responsibilities as needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • About 6 years of experience in grant writing for private foundation, government, and corporate support;

  • Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively;

  • Incredible attention to detail in tracking timelines, producing written content, and preparing grant submissions;

  • Ability to work across multiple infrastructure and programmatic teams, with staff across the country, to meet goals and deadlines;

  • Familiarity with GSuite, Microsoft Office, and database management (ideally Salesforce) a plus;

  • A deep commitment to racial equity and social justice, and an understanding of how development is a core piece of this mission-driven work.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $65,000-$75,000 and Category 2. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is available here.

We have a generous benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 15 vacation days per year, 10 sick days per year, 13 paid holidays per year, and contributions to individuals’ 401K plans.
