Job Details

Summary: The Registered Behavior Technician

The RBT is responsible for the implementation of behavioral services, serving individuals diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities in a Host Home program, as well as children with exceptional needs in a Foster Care home setting. There are multiple positions available in strategic locations to serve key areas around the state.  

The RBT will work directly with the Disability Services Manager, in a variety of supportive roles including the day-to-day implementation of specific therapeutic programs consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), designed to teach practical life skills through Discrete Trail Training (DTT) in the home and community settings as well as day program services. This will include precise tracking of data to determine progress and effectiveness of interventions. Under the guidance of the agency Behavior Analyst, the resulting data will be graphed, analyzed and programs will be updated accordingly. This will require travel to different sites across the state of Georgia with a concentration on specific regions within the state.   

The RBT will also respond to behavioral crises in host homes and foster homes by supporting caregivers during episodes in which program participants display behaviors determined to be a danger to themselves or others.  This will involve using methods of non-violent crisis intervention techniques, to ensure the safety of the individual, and all other involved parties. This may require travel to different parts of the state, with a focus on specific regions.

Trainings will be provided for DBHDD mandated direct contact personnel, as well as RBT, and non-violent crisis intervention techniques through in-person classes as well as the Relias online platform.

 

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Collaborates with with BCBA, RBTs and Caregivers to serve program participants.
  • Implements treatments in accordance with individualized Behavior and Safety Plans.
  • Data tracking and recording information into extended reach data system.
  • Monitors individuals and caregivers for progress and Behavior Support Plan implementation.
  • Responds to behavioral crises for statewide programs to support safety practices.
  • Utilizes nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Participates in supervisory meetings with BCBA and other Behavioral Services staff.
  • Completes and maintains trainings using Relias and in person courses.

 

 

  • Participates in scheduled interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Develops strong alliances and supports within the agency and assists with assigned special projects by the Director of Disability and Health Services in collaboration with other agency departments and programs.
  • Embraces a data-driven organization and uses dashboards and the PQI process to monitor progress and compliance.
  • Assists with guidance on program policies, standard operating procedures, behavior management, recruitment, intake, and marketing.
  • Reviews dashboards to ensure the program meets or exceeds PQI and other critical data targets. (Strategic Plan goals, Performance, and Quality Improvement goals, and Critical Data Entry).
  • Participates in Statewide Program Staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Identifies, initiates, and develops business relationships with potential partners, e.g., state,
  • Supports quality assurance, quality improvement, and corrective actions.
  • Works with other programs to ensure Behavior Services policies are current and in compliance with all standards.
  • Contributes to the individual service planning process and case management reviews as needed.
  • Provides guidance and problem-solving techniques to individuals served and caregivers.
  • Monitors clients with Safety Plans or Behavior Support Plans.
  • Makes regular and unscheduled visits to the home, school, training site, day program or job of the individuals served as needed.
  • Assists staff with managing disruptions as needed.
  • Maintains accurate, current, and complete service records according to established timelines, policies, procedures, funding sources, grants, and/or contracts.
  • Enters accurate, timely case information into data base system and is proficient in producing required reports.
  • Evaluates the caregivers and their homes for safety, well-being, permanency and contract compliance.
  • Displays independence in working with families in various settings (i.e., in home, community based, and center based).
  • Develops strong alliances and supports within the service providing agencies in the community. Acts as an advocate for the individuals receiving services, the caregivers, and the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field and experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities and in child welfare and/or services.
  • Minimum one year in Disability Services providing direct care to individuals diagnosed with IDD or ASD.
  • Experience dealing with social issues impacting consumers and the community.
  • Ability and desire to work within a team and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner.
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Ability to take initiative and coordinate logistics.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills and make appropriate, difficult decisions.
  • Ability to forge mutually respectful partnerships with persons served and their families.
  • Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
  • Willing and able to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet client/agency needs.
  • Must be computer literate. Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must have personal vehicle, valid Georgia Driver’s License, good driving record and appropriate automobile insurance.
  • Or possess a combination of education, experience and competencies that enables performance of all aspects of the position.

Desired Qualification:

  • Current RBT certification.
  • Experience providing Crisis Response Services.
