Job Details
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Development Associate is responsible for donor relations, donor database management and donor stewardship.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the CFO
Principal Responsibilities:
- Can fulfill the clinic’s mission to spread the love of Christ through quality healthcare to those in need while performing their job functions.
- Assist in grant management process by maintaining development calendar, researching grant prospects, and collecting data for reporting, including federal and local government grants.
- Maintain donor recognition by accurately recording all transactions and acknowledging donors for all gifts.
- Serve as primary point of contact for donors and provide exceptional customer service for individual, major gift, and in-kind donors.
- Pursue training and keeps current with philanthropy, laws, and giving techniques important to the success of the development program.
- Report progress and status of fundraising to CFO weekly.
- Maintain a current understanding of the work of the Center and assists with major gifts strategy.
- Assist with public relations and marketing campaigns, including website and social media.
- Assist in the implementation of fundraising events.
- Manage the development and delivery of quarterly newsletter, annual report, and special mailings to our donor population.
- Other Duties as assigned.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
EDUCATION: 4-year college degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 2+ years professional nonprofit fundraising experience.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others in a way that supports the Center’s mission to share the love of Christ through quality healthcare to those in need.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Organized, with high attention to detail.
- Confidence and poise to initiate contact and establish relationships with community organizations.
- Resourcefulness to resolve problems independently, identifying a variety of possible solutions and utilizing all available resources.
- Ability to deal with conflict and challenge in a manner that produces positive results.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Microsoft Windows and Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Development database (eTapestry preferred)
- Current laws, giving techniques, and developments in philanthropy
PREFERRED:
- Strong database and statistical skills
- Understanding of federal grant process
ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS: Office setting, well-ventilated and well lighted. OSHA Category 3 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity. Vision must be corrected to 20 / 20 and hearing must be in normal range. Must be able to view computer screens for long periods. Occasional stress related to workload and customers with problems.
- Hearing / Speaking: Effective communication with staff, visitors and patients. Spanish language skills a plus.
