ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Momentum for Health is one of the largest nonprofit providers of behavioral health services in Santa Clara County. Each year, we serve 4,000 adults and youth living with a mental illness. Our comprehensive programs and services include prevention and early intervention, adult and transitional age youth (14 to 24) outpatient services, employment services, day rehabilitation, addiction treatment services, residential treatment, supported housing, and a volunteer program. In addition, Momentum works to reduce and eliminate stigma that surrounds mental illness and behavioral health care through a community relations program that promotes education, diversity, and collaboration.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Institutional Giving Assistant will assist in all aspects of grant research, production and submission of proposals to support existing and planned program activities. This position will assist in prospect research; the development, writing and submission of grant proposals to public and private funding sources; and assist in collecting and reporting back the required data on the performance of program activities that have been funded from successful proposals. The Institutional Giving Assistant will maintain a calendar of prospects, submissions, awards and reporting deadlines, and is responsible for maintaining updated records of interactions with funders and pertinent records on the donor database (Bloomerang). This position will be remote as needed for as long as the pandemic requires, but will ultimately become an onsite role once it is safe to do so.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in production of proposals and supporting documents in response to grant solicitations to funders.
  2. Write and edit grant submissions and reports exhibiting a high-level command of the English language.
  3. Assist in the process of supplying progress reports when required by funder that has awarded a project or program grant award.
  4. Manage and maintain sensitive information such as salaries, budget and the like in a confidential manner.
  5. Research grant-making organizations and analyze them to identify likely funding sources for designated projects and programs.
  6. Maintain and implement a calendar of grant activities.
  7. Update donor interactions on donor database Bloomerang.
  8. Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of Momentum’s programs, and use that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which grants will be sought.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is motivated, curious, and eager to learn. Interest in nonprofits and especially fundraising/development is essential. We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  8. Work with populations identified as high risk and/or considered under-represented in the County Behavioral Health system, with multiple barriers. (D)

  10. Special Requirements: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint experience. (E)
  11. Possess a valid California Driver License, with access to a reliable vehicle or for driving an Agency vehicle, current proof of auto liability insurance, and a documented clean DMV. (E)
  12. Physical requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job in day-to-day performance of the duties of this position, with or without accommodation:
    1. Hearing and talking on telephone and in person (over 2/3 of the workday); (E)
    2. Standing, walking, sitting, pinching and finger flexion are required constantly (over 2/3 of the workday); (E)
    3. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and twisting are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday); (D)
    4. Balancing, climbing and crawling are generally not required.
