Job Title: Director of Donor Relations

Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Status: Exempt

Salary: $80-$85K

Location: Mableton Business Center

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Donor Relations reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and is responsible for managing an organization-wide comprehensive stewardship-focused donor relations program with donors at all levels. The Director of Donor Relations manages four positions, including three direct reports: Corporate Relations and Foundations Manager, Major Gifts and Planned Giving Manager, and Annual Giving Manager. This position will oversee a data-driven process, grounded in fundamentals and reflecting current trends in fundraising, to develop new donors, retain and grow existing donors, and position Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta to meet its strategic fund-raising goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the donor relationship strategy to thoughtfully and proactively cultivate relationships with new donors and steward current donors in order to maximize donor retention, engagement, and support.
  • Prioritize the use of donor-related data to formulate clear goals and action plans for self and direct reports for how GSGATL interacts with each donor segment to achieve engagement and support.
  • Ensure donors receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition to strengthen their engagement with and support of our organization.
  • Support cultivation and stewardship activities with individual donors and prospects.
  • Lead the Fund Development team to implement strategies that result in increased donor engagement, donor retention and donated revenue.
  • Develop and implement a system to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of the Fund Development staff.
  • Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling personal accountability for individual goals.
  • Monitor and analyze external and internal trends to develop benchmarks, best practices, priorities and focus areas.
  • Track relationship-based metrics to assess the current engagement and activity of donors and determine the effectiveness of various efforts in engaging donors and increasing support.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors whose engagement and support is critical to the organization’s success.
  • Direct the development and implementation of strategic, donor-focused communications in multiple mediums in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Fund Development staff to demonstrate the impact of philanthropy to donors by arranging meaningful and memorable experiences with funding recipients as appropriate.
  • Ensure special events are aligned with department goals and strategies and have stewardship-focused follow-up plans associated with them.
  • Create innovative programs and projects to thank and steward donors.
  • Recruit, hire, and oversee training and onboarding of new team members.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Genuine passion for the mission of Girl Scouts: building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising and track record of securing individual and or institutional gifts
  • Demonstrated leadership in coaching, managing and developing a team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to produce high quality work
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Ability to meet designated deadlines and hold direct reports accountable for same

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience working in RaisersEdge, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required and/or five-years of fund-raising management experience

*Must successfully complete a criminal, motor vehicle and credit background check.
