Company

Our Mission

MODA's mission is to advance the understanding and appreciation of design as the convergence of creativity and functionality through exhibitions, education, and programming for visitors of all ages.

Our Vision

We pursue our mission because we envision a world that celebrates design as a creative force that inspires change, transforms lives, and makes the world a better place.

Our History

MODA is the only museum in the Southeast dedicated exclusively to the study and celebration of all things design. Formed in 1989 as the Atlanta International Museum of Art & Design, MODA has grown and evolved over the years to become the Southeast’s only design museum.

In 2011, MODA moved to its current home in the heart of the Midtown Arts District. This transition has been critical to the Museum’s recent success, offering premium street visibility and immediate proximity to the city’s most important arts organizations.

MODA strives to bring more design to Atlanta everyday. The work of our staff and board of directors is structured by two research questions:

  • What is the museum of the 21st century?

  • Can a design museum change the world?

We're interested in having these conversations with constituents and colleagues near and far.
