The Policing Alternatives & Diversion (PAD) Initiative seeks a Director of Social Services to ensure the provision of high-quality case management and successful linkage to care for individuals diverted or referred to PAD. The Director of Social Services is responsible for leading the PAD Care Navigation team and establishing and maintaining partnerships with a wide range of service providers to access resources related to housing, mental and physical healthcare, employment and benefits, substance use management and treatment, and other services.


  • Provide direct supervision and support to the Care Navigation Supervisor, who supervises an 8-12 person team of Care Navigators;
  • Recruit, develop, and maintain partnerships to establish contracted support and/or referrals to behavioral health, housing, employment, and other social service providers for PAD participants, including managing MOUs, conducting site visits, and advocating on behalf of participants;
  • Ensure high quality, harm reduction based case management for PAD participants through development and evaluation of care navigation protocol and policies and fulfilling monthly and quarterly reporting requirements;
  • Support development and dissemination of PAD Care Navigation protocol, policy and, approach, including coordinating training and support for PAD staff and partners and participating in internal and external meetings and events;
  • As a member of the PAD Leadership Team, contribute to agency policies, team building, and development and documentation of the PAD model in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary staff;
  • Work to increase and ensure cultural competency (including racial, cultural, gender identity and sexual orientation) among PAD’s stakeholder agencies and communities;
  • Weekly COVID-19 testing or proof of vaccination is required;


  • LMSW, LCSW, or related licensure preferred; MSW or related graduate degree required;
  • Minimum of three years experience in a leadership position in the fields of behavioral health, social services, or homelessness;
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in direct supervision of case managers or related positions;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of harm reduction, housing first, and social justice;
  • Weekly COVID-19 testing or proof of vaccination is required;
  • People with lived experience of incarceration, recovery, homelessness, and those who identify as Trans or LGBQ strongly encouraged to apply.

PAD provides a starting salary of $65,000, comprehensive benefits, and a strong vacation policy in a people-centered environment.
