Responsible to the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee internal controls, set financial targets, develop a financial strategy, monitor expenditures, oversee annual insurance, monitor cash flow and manage tax compliance.  The CFO's skills in sound financial planning coupled with an ability to direct financial assets will assist the Foundation in implementing effective financial strategies, manage budgets and maintain a healthy financial position.

Duties and Responsibilities

●    Approves all program expenditures

●    Monitors program budgets

●    Reviews all payrolls and is responsible for all personnel files

●    Reviews and manages cash flow

●    Reviews and approves all reimbursements and fund requests

●    Processes all inter-account bank transfers

●    Assists Executive Director with the development of annual and program budgets

●    Reviews all incoming and outgoing invoices

●    Manages the petty cash fund

●    Receives and opens all incoming accounting department mail except bank statements

●    Monitors and manages all expenses to ensure most effective use of assets

●    Monitors grant reporting and appropriate release of temporarily restricted funds

●    Oversees expense allocations

●    Monitors and makes recommendations for asset retirement and replacement

●    Reviews, revises, and maintains internal accounting controls and procedures

●    Initiates donor thank you letter acknowledgements

●    Reviews all finance reports

●    Maintains Monthly and Year End Statements

●    Maintains the Chart of Accounts and General Ledger

●    Maintains the Fixed Asset Log

●    Overseeing audit and tax functions (Federal, State, Local)



●    Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance

●    Proficiency in accounting software

●    Financial management experience

●    Strong aptitude for math

●    Good communication skills

●    Computer literacy

●    Strong analytical skills

●    Broad knowledge of accounting principles


Preferred Qualifications

  Master’s of Business Administration

●    Experience in non-profit accounting

●    5 years experience working as a finance director
