Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson is a multi-issue grassroots organization fighting for immigrants' rights and social justice in the Hudson Valley of New York. Our interns will get to learn fundamental skills of organizing for change and be a critical part of one of the fastest-growing organizations in the Hudson Valley.
1. Student Organizing Position
Time Commitment: 16 hrs/week
Location: Remote
Responsibilities:
- Shift Facilitation, facilitating phonebank shifts (monitoring team builder, slack, and debrief), answering questions in the slack and during the debrief, collecting questions/feedback for staff
- Intern Management, checking in with interns each week to help them assess their work, gather feedback and prepare reports
- Meeting Facilitation, preparing for and leading intern meetings/trainings
- Organizational Recruitment, contacting our lists of students who are interested in volunteering and talking to them about volunteer opportunities and signing them up for shifts. Researching and reaching out to potential new bases.
- Relational Recruitment, talking to your friends/family/peers about the campaigns and seeing if they would like to make a call to a legislator and/or join you for a volunteer shift
- Political Education, doing readings on organizing theory, movement building, organizing theory, organizational culture, etc.
- Fundraising, participating as a fundraising team member in our fundraising drive from June 9 – June 15, asking personal networks to donate.
- Phonebanking, making calls to local community members and organizational contacts to discuss our campaigns and local elections
- Potentially…
- Phonebank Data Management, uploading and monitoring thrutalk data, managing wrong number and follow up data from phonebank
- Event Planning, planning and doing outreach for welcome events, political education sessions, etc.
- Admin Work, supporting our administrative coordinator Lissa with data entry, managing volunteer and donor databases
- Onboarding, supporting the onboarding of new interns/volunteers

2. Community Engagement Coach Position
Time Commitment: 8 hrs/week
Location: Remote
Responsibilities:
- Intern Management, checking in with interns each week to help them assess their work, practice their deep canvassing/recruitment conversations, gather feedback and prepare reports
- Shift Facilitation, facilitating phone bank shifts (monitoring team builder, slack, and debrief), answering questions in the slack and during the debrief, collecting questions/feedback for staff
- Training, helping to train new volunteers/interns in deep canvassing during deep canvassing shifts
- Relational Recruitment, talking to your friends/family/peers about the campaigns and seeing if they would like to make a call to a legislator and/or join you for a deep canvassing shift
- Phonebanking, making calls to local community members and organizational contacts to discuss our campaigns and local elections
- Political Education, attending political education sessions to learn about campaigns, movement building, organizing theory, organizational culture, etc.

3. Community Engagement Position
Time Commitment: 4 hrs/week (two 2 hr shifts per week)
Location: Remote
Responsibilities:
- Deep Canvassing, calling community members and engaging with them on the topics we campaign around: healthcare, housing, energy, immigration. Connecting experiences with our progressive policy campaigns and connecting supportive community members with our organization and action steps they can take
- Voter Engagement Phonebanking, calling constituents about local elections
- Volunteer Recruitment, calling our lists of students who are interested in volunteering and talking to them about volunteer opportunities (like deep canvassing!) and signing them up for shifts
- Relational Recruitment, talking to your friends/family/peers about the campaigns and seeing if they would like to make a call to a legislator and/or join you for a deep canvassing shift
