The Director of Alumnae Engagement will set the overall Alumni Relations and fundraising vision, drive strategic planning and is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement program to build a meaningful long-term relationship with our alumni community. This position will work closely with colleagues in advancement, communications, ACE, special events, and programs.


Key Responsibilities


• Plan, develop, implement and promote meaningful events to strengthen the alumnae network, steward and solicit philanthropic support and engage them in the life of the school.  These include, but are not limited to Reunion, First Friday Lunches, regional gatherings, holiday parties and other occasions


• Work with the Alumnae and Alumnae Parent Executive Committee to support their leadership and serve as a liaison for the school


• Continue to create new alumni programs that reflect interests of the alumni community and mission of the school


• Contribute to semi-annual publication of the Full Circle magazine


• Collaborate with others in the Advancement Department to provide appropriate and effective programming, to support alumnae appeals and to facilitate alumnae engagement and alumnae giving. Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumnae, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.


• Maintain regular communication with alumnae. Implement ongoing alumnae communications utilizing an array of platforms including email, social media, web presence, print and other outlets. Remain up to date on current methods and innovations to effectively communicate with alumnae.


• Directly supervise the Alumnae function and oversee day-to-day operations. Coordinate and oversee the work of volunteer management.  


• Coordinate with the Director of Events to set event strategy and planning, communications, and budgeting. 


• Provide the framework for, and oversight to, goal setting and benchmarking, recognition of donors, events, volunteer recruitment, training and support. Participate in event-related meetings, including debriefings.


• Identify and qualify alumnae prospects for gifts; ensure activities are documented in alumnae engagement activity in the database.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


• Ability to develop and implement programs consistent with the advancement strategic plan, and to ensure that programs effectively address agreed-upon objectives and priorities, operate within budget limitations, and comply with appropriate policies and procedures.


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, both written and oral, as well as high-level sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings.


•  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.


• Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.


• Excellent customer service and public relations skills.


• Ability to manage multiple projects; flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced environment, with excellent follow through.


• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access) and Google Suite.


• Excellent written and verbal communication, project management, and highly effective presentation skills.


 • Ability to work weekends and nights.


Required Qualifications


• Bachelor’s Degree


• Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in advancement, preferably in a non-profit or comparable environment.


Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in an advancement role.
