The Senior Accountant position is responsible for assisting the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in ensuring the Finance Department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for administering the expense reimbursement system and accounts payable system.

  2. Provides information to staff needing assistance with lobbying or federal grant reports.

  3. Responsible for maintaining the financial dashboard for users, as well as providing training to new users.

  4. Reviews the work of the Staff Accountant and any other financial tasks performed by others.

  5. Trains the Staff Accountant on delivering budget reports for internal users.

  6. Serves as the backup to the Staff Accountant in his or her absence.

  7. Assists the CFO in working with external accountants for the annual audit and Form 990 preparation.

  8. Serves as the primary Treasury contact for banking matters.

  9. Serves as the primary point of contact between Finance and Development on matters of contribution recordation and receipt.

  10. Works with the Development Team on charitable registration filings.

  11. Serves as the primary point of contact in Finance to other CSA staff

  12. Participates with the CFO in periodic meetings.

  13. Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

The Finance Manager supervises the Staff Accountant in addition to any other members of the CSA team assigned Finance duties.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, multifunction copiers, filing cabinets, and conferencing equipment. 

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience plus five years of accounting experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required.  CPA eligibility or designation a plus.
