About

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual who shares our passion for service and our civic pride.  We're committed to building a dedicated team that reflects the diverse Atlanta community.

About The Position:

As the Senior Manager of Corporate & Signature Events, you will serve on Hands On Atlanta’s Development Team, working directly with companies to mobilize their employees and customers in impactful service across the city.  This position serves as a bridge between companies who desire to be good corporate citizens and the hundreds of nonprofits and schools who we support.  Simply stated, the Senior Manager will turn corporate good intentions into meaningful action.  In addition to pitching, planning and executing custom projects for companies (~15-20 per year), the Senior Manager will also oversee three signature annual events – MLK Day (Jan), 9/11 Day (Sep) and Hands On Atlanta Week (Oct).  This position reports directly to the Director of Development and will supervise a small team of full-time and part-time staff and volunteers.

Some Things You Should Know:

  • Hands On Atlanta has a storied, 30+ year history performing at the forefront of the service sector.
  • We are a team of fun, high-performing, service-nerds with an open mind for new ideas.
  • Our programs are impacting the lives of thousands of under-resourced people across Atlanta.
  • Our office is located in West Midtown, one of the city’s best neighborhoods for lunch, coffee, drinks, and shopping (when we aren’t practicing social distancing); but have worked 100% remotely for the past year.
  • We enjoy a casual, but focused office atmosphere (we roll up our sleeves and get to work).

You might describe yourself like this:

You pay attention to details. As far as you are concerned, anything worth doing is worth doing right. You stay focused and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.  You are motivated and driven.  You volunteer for new challenges without waiting to be asked.  You think big and have a knack for building win-win partnerships.  Your superpower is planning world-class events! Pair that with your ability to communicate with just about anyone, and we’re definitely impressed.

  • Do you have success at closing deals while building project plans?
  • Do you have event planning experience that will make our civic engagement events and volunteer projects world-class?
  • Are you great at coaching and supervising both staff and volunteers?
  • Are you able to delight even the most discerning corporate client?
  • Do you volunteer for new challenges without waiting to be asked?

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Project & Event Management
  • Experience leading events of all sizes through their full lifecycle, from initial design through execution - from 20 people at one project to a week of 60 projects for 3,000+ volunteers
  • Precise project scoping and planning of logistics to meet high corporate expectations
  • Detailed event and fundraiser experience from initial conception to day-of fulfillment
  • Experience creating comprehensive supporting documents – Proposals, MOUs, invoices, work scopes, budgets, run of shows, etc.
  • Business Development and Community Partnerships
  • Experience managing a corporate sales pipeline; selling new busines and growing existing partnerships
  • Solid understanding of Atlanta nonprofits and community organizations - “in-touch” on how group volunteering can impact the Atlanta community
  • Ability to foster relationships with affiliates across our network

  • Administrative – Staff, Budget and Vendor Management
  • Experience managing a diverse and high-performing team; train, coach and supervise a team of part-time, full-time and contract staff
  • Recruit and train volunteer task leaders for on-site or virtual projects
  • Responsible for accurate project pricing and budget management
  • Manage vendors and contract negotiations
  • Produce monthly & annual financial and expense reconciliations
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Oversee maintenance and compliance of HOA’s delivery truck
  • Oversee daily operations of warehouse and inventory
  • Support development department’s annual fundraising goals as needed

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • 8+ years experience as an event planner or project manager (nonprofit experience a plus)
  • Experience soliciting, fundraising, and/or closing partnerships
  • Experience supervising and coaching diverse teams of full-time, part-time and contract staff
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Creative and innovative in project design, collaboration and planning
  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment, management and events
  • Ability to manage DIY landscaping, painting and carpentry project plans, supply ordering and project scoping
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • A “level head” that is calm, collaborative, and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Tech savvy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) and CRM system (Salesforce preferred)
  • Valid GA Driver’s License and ability to drive up to 24’ box truck
  • Ability to lift 10-50 pounds and stand for up to 6 hours
