Position Summary
https://www.phi.org/our-work/programs/together-toward-health/ is seeking a Communications Manager. Reporting to the Together Toward Health Program Director, the Communications Manager will have primary responsibility for establishing a communications strategy, develop impact stories and other program collateral, and overseeing the integration of communication efforts in alignment with the goals and framework of the program. This position will conceptualize and create digital and print collateral to showcase the work of Together Toward Health efforts for a variety of audiences and work closely with other partners on collecting and sharing essential COVID-19 communication resources. Duties include managing design and upkeep of the website, social media, and collateral required for a strong communications infrastructure; provide consultations and training to the program team for effective and consistent communication about the work; coordinate with staff and outside contractors to capture efforts and support technical assistance needs; and build communications projects into the overall work of the Together Toward Health.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage overall development and implementation of Together Toward Health's strategy working closely with the Program Director and team members.

• Recommend and implement communications/media strategies and approaches to enhance engagement with key stakeholders.

• Oversee the project's interactive website and collaborate with project staff and leadership team to develop its content.

• Maintain and manage TTH website and social media presence and work in close collaboration with project staff to develop content.

• Manage content and processes for monthly and quarterly updates to funders and the website. Provides input and sign off of all content posted on the TTH website.

• Write, edit and proof a wide variety of materials, maintaining consistent TTH voice and brand image including program reports, blogs, outreach and marketing collateral, fact sheets, website and social media content, program newsletters and presentations.

• Provides an editorial review of TTH related content in project-based materials to assure appropriateness and accuracy of messages.

• Identify key audiences related to TTH project goals and craft targeted messages via email marketing campaigns, materials, presentations, and social media to reach them.

• Craft key message points, assisting with PowerPoint presentations, and/or modifying graphics.

• Develops and maintains broad knowledge of TH activities.

• Collaborate with the TTH team, partners and communities to capture stories of TTH community awardees and develop impact stories.

• Participate in the development of novel and proactive media and outreach engagement efforts that support and enhance the work of TH and its participants.

• Work with PHI's communications team to write, edit, pitch and place feature stories, opinion pieces and other earned media, including management of press materials.

• Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, creating impact stories.
• Proven success designing and executing communications strategies and campaigns.
• Demonstrated experience with all types of social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
• Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to think analytically and strategically.
• Strong aesthetic design and basic knowledge of graphic design elements.
• Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently.
• Comfort and experience working in a remote environment.
• Possess excellent verbal written communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computer technology (including Microsoft Office suite, virtual meeting platforms and databases) and web content management systems.
• Understanding of how COVID-19 affects specific vulnerable populations and under-resourced communities, and appreciation of the emerging impacts of COVID-19 on healthcare systems, public health departments, and government agencies.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working in or with the following is a plus: California grassroots community organizations, local health departments, and the public health sector in general.
• Preference will be given to candidates located in or very familiar with California.

Important Information

• This position may be part-time or full-time. We will consider candidates wishing to work a part-time schedule of between 20-30 hrs/week.
• This is a time-limited position with a tentative end date of December 31st, 2021.
• This is a remote position.
