Job Details

Objective
The Production Director supports the planning, preparation, and coordination of all production aspects of worship services, funerals, weddings, and special events. The Production Director prepares, operates, maintains, supports and seamlessly integrates the technologies of audio, lighting, video and graphical presentations, that equip and enhance the outreach and commission of Northside Church to the world.


Knowledge

  • Knowledge of and support the United Methodist doctrine, heritage and structure
  • Knowledge of the culture and values of Northside Church; articulates and supports its mission and direction; demonstrates through words and actions the love of God
  • Skilled knowledge of equipment, software, multimedia applications, and licensing with regard to installation, maintenance, and utilization of audio, video and lighting (AVL) resources
  • Knowledge in the use of computer, sound, video, and stage lighting techniques to enhance the worship experience and be able to train others to also effectively use these modalities
  • Knowledge of streaming and online access to church AVL content
  • Knowledge of hiring, managing, and empowering staff and volunteers related to AVL expertise

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the AVL production systems and equipment for all environments
  • Maintain the upkeep of audio/visual technology on the church campus along with ordering and installation of new technical equipment
  • Oversee and is responsible for audio production, video production, lighting design, broadcast and social media streaming for Sunday worship services, mid-week productions, special events, and ministry content
  • Manage preparation of worship service elements which include lighting, camera angles, Contemporary Worship physical props, as well as any audio and image/video needs
  • Manage and update video recording and projections onsite and online streaming
  • Recruit, train, schedule and delegate staff and volunteers for the various technological positions for all worship services and special events
  • Direct and guide staff and volunteers to succeed in carrying out their various tasks during a worship service and special events
  • Partner with ministries and staff to facilitate successful production support for ministry initiatives.
  • Contribute creative ideas for production and other initiatives that further ministry goals and priorities, and attends experience team meetings and other meetings as required
  • Develop and implement procedures and processes for the production team
  • Coordinate audio/visual personnel for special services and events
  • Serve as a creative resource to pastors, staff, and ministries in regard to audio/visual systems design
  • Performs other related tasks as requested by the Associate Pastor of Worship, Executive Director or Senior Pastor

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a strong and growing faith in Jesus Christ, and a commitment to sharing their faith with others
  • Understanding and capability of audio engineering for inhouse and broadcast mix in both traditional worship settings with a wet acoustic and contemporary worship settings with a dry acoustic
  • Ability to make sound, critical decisions under pressure
  • Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers
  • Organizational, administrative, communications and interpersonal skills who can interface with ministers, staff, volunteers, and lay leadership
  • Skilled in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, computers, Power Point, and video projection.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; especially in media, audio/visual production, television production or another related field and;
  • Minimum four years relevant experience in technical/media ministry of a church, faith-based, or religious non-profit environment or organization
  • or; combination of education and experience commensurate with the minimum requirements of this position
