The Edmonds College Foundation is seeking an innovative Executive Director to lead a dedicated team of five professionals committed to community leadership, enduring connections, and execution excellence. The Executive Director will foster a creative, collaborative environment and is responsible for all aspects of the Foundation mission to support access, success, and excellence for students, faculty, and staff at Edmonds College. 

The Executive Director of the Edmonds College Foundation provides leadership and oversight of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists to support the college’s mission of teaching, learning and community. This position leads a multi-disciplinary team toward philanthropic excellence through all aspects of the organization: development, fiscal stewardship and accountability, board partnerships, communication, marketing and outreach, and efficient operational processes. This position provides strategic leadership and direction for corporate, foundation and individual giving activities, including fundraising and cultivation events, planned giving, special events, annual and capital campaigns, and major gifts programs.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This exempt position operationally reports to the Vice President for Innovation & Strategic Partnerships to develop, implement and manage innovative fundraising strategies, collaborates with the College on impactful programs, and provides management and direct oversight to foundation staff. The executive director works collaboratively with the Foundation Board of Directors to establish and execute strategic priorities and ensure compliance with the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of the organization.  This position is jointly accountable to the Edmonds College Foundation Board of Directors Executive Committee and the Edmonds College Vice President for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships in meeting established goals, targets, and high level outcomes. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising and Development | Drive development, flawless execution and assessment of complex annual and multi-year fundraising plans.
  • Leadership | Provide visionary leadership to the Foundation staff and Board of Directors that inspires and propels forward momentum and enthusiasm about the work of the Foundation and College. 
  • Operations and Fiscal Management | Oversee all financial processes, policy, and audits that position the EC Foundation for fiscal health and sustainability. 
  • Community and Board Partnerships | Develop marketing and communication strategies that drive an impactful social media and web presence for the Foundation. 

This professional exempt position reports to the Vice President of Innovation & Strategic Partnerships.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, non-profit management, marketing, social sciences or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. 
  • At least three (3) years of experience leading a multi-functional team and familiarity with all facets of non-profit management, including financial and legal requirements. 
  • Five (5) years of professional level fundraising experience in a higher education institution or non-profit setting with a successful gift solicitation track record including securing five and six-figure major gifts. Equivalent private or corporate sector experience can be considered. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating equitable and inclusive practices and outcomes in the workplace and for all served through the Foundation. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degrees or comparable certifications.
  • Charismatic leadership that leverages innovative approaches to engage the community. 
  • Exemplary verbal and written communications skills.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills that demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet, presentation and fundraising database software; hands on experience with fundraising technology such as Raiser’s Edge or Greater Giving.
  • Experience working with volunteer boards. 
  • Capital campaign and planned giving experience.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally performed in an office environment. The ability to speak clearly on the telephone, use a computer is required. Recurring early/late hours (weekend/early morning/evening meetings).  This position requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle. The ability to make sound judgments is essential.  

COMPENSATION:   

Salary is $99,228.06 - $107,175.14 and is based on the Edmonds College administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a generous full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. 

Vacation and leave package includes more than 35 paid leave days per year: 12 sick days per year, 10 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., including some evenings and weekends.

FLSA Status:

The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.  

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
