Summer Camp Internship

 

Bright Futures Atlanta, while serving teens in low opportunity areas on the west side, is looking for Summer Camp Program Interns at its westside location serving 40-50 teens  Mon- Thus., 9:30AM – 4:30PM.

Internship – Stipend $125 weekly, all expenses paid on excursions and outings.

BFA is a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Location: 748 Gary Rd NW Atlanta, GA 30318

Dates/Times: June – August 2021 (8 weeks); Monday – Thursday (9:30a – 4:30p)

Are you someone that enjoys going on field trips, playing sports, trying new activities, and changing kids’ lives while you are at it? Then we want to talk to you! We are currently seeking multiple candidates for our summer s at our Summer Camp.  You will be part of a small team providing a supportive, safe, and fun environment for the youth of the Westside of Atlanta.

Job Summary:

The Summer Camp Intern is responsible for general supervision of all campers within their assigned group as well as the overall safety and support of all youth attending camp. Activity planning and facilitating are among other key responsibilities.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Commitment to at least 3 days of training leading up to the first week of camp; Dates TBD
  • Inform Camp Director of camper/staff problems which impact on the health or safety of any camper. No issue or concern is too small to share!
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Work to reduce conflict among campers, create a team-friendly environment with positivity.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills: lesson planning, timelines, meet deadlines, following schedules and set goals.
  • Plan and execute the activities in coordination with the program directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A candidate who is truly Amazing with teens!
  • You must pass a GA State run background check
  • Being CPR, First Aid and AED certified is a plus
  • Prior camp experience preferred.
  • Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants,
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with participants, families and caregivers, both verbally and non-verbally
  • Demonstrates practical problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.
