Position Summary:  We are looking for an experienced and versatile Development Manager who is driven and excited to help us accomplish our mission and more. In this role, you will spearhead our efforts to establish and maintain relationships with corporations and external organizations to gain direct and indirect financial support, resources, and meaningful mission-related benefits in partnership with the Executive Director.  You will lead and motivate the development team to meet the required financial needs. You will coordinate and execute the approved plan and strategies to develop donors and contributions to support the organization. You will ensure the development and maintenance of appropriate systems to fund development, including but not limited to donor management, research and cultivation, gift processing, and recognition. You will oversee and deliver the writing and reporting of funding proposals and grants. You will maintain accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources. You will be a part of an Adapting team with a culture of emotionally mature, collaborative team members passionate about mental health care.

This is a full-time, exempt, 40 hours/week, including some nights and weekends.  This position reports to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and deliver a clearly defined fundraising strategy (incorporating a related communication plan) that will ensure sustainable revenue for the agency's running costs and build a suitable level of reserves.
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships – individuals, faith groups, organizations, and corporations.
  • Participate with the Executive Director, staff, and board in charting the organization's course in fund development.
  • Develop, implement and manage corporate events.
  • Manage the solicitation, grant writing, and stewardship for foundation grants. Ensure compliance to grant requirements and provide accurate and timely reporting.
  • Write Letters of Inquiry, Proposals, and reports for grants ranging from $10K to $1MM+.
  • Broaden fundraising by developing strategies to increase planned giving, solicitation of bequests, and endowment programs.
  • Represent the agency at industry meetings.
  • Develop materials (newsletters, brochures, and other materials) to communicate with corporate sponsors and the community.
  • Meet or exceed fundraising and development targets established within the annual budgeting process, participate in developing future operating and capital plans, and conduct ongoing research to uncover new prospects.
  • Develop key metrics and targets to monitor the organization's philanthropic activity and provide a weekly report to the Executive Director.
  • Provide leadership for the development department team members and ensure that organizational and individual fundraising targets are met through instilling a creative, commercial, adaptable, and positive team environment.
  • Work collaboratively as a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to planning and strategy development.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and management of special fundraising and donor development events to cultivate support from members, major donors, corporate partners, and prospects.
  • Develop and manage a donor database to ensure accurate and up-to-date data with proper coding.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and representation of agency brand across all fundraising communications. 
  • Prepare letters of appreciation for all donations and grants received.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with demonstrated success in implementing fundraising strategies in a non-profit organization with at least 3+ years of experience in mission-based fundraising and 3+ years of grant management experience. You will have a competitive drive, like managing multiple priorities, taking the initiative, and delivering high-quality products and services. You will have earned a bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s Degree preferred). The right candidate will also be proficient and experienced with the following:

  • Knowledge of trends, techniques, and practices of federal, state, and foundation grantmaking.
  • Understanding cultivation and stewardship and developing long-term strategies for foundation supports that maximize their giving potential.
  • Well organized with a proven ability to work in a demanding, multiple task environment.
  • Personal and professional integrity, flexibility, and leadership qualities.
  • Strong people and organizational skills, and a talent for building strong relationships throughout an organization and community.
  • Advanced organizational and management skills, capacity to see both larger picture and detailed steps needed to achieve goals.
