Job Responsibilities. The Communication and Development Manager is a key role of HMHBGA’s leadership team.   Responsible for managing and implementing all communications and fund development efforts, the communications and development manager will bolster HMHBGA’s mission to ensure long-term income sustainability and brand awareness.  The ideal candidate will possess a hybrid of experience in fund development, grants management, communications, social media management, brand management, and marketing development.  Examples of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cultivates, solicits, and stewards potential diversified sources of public and private funding through planned giving campaigns, events and government, foundation, and corporate grants.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders including prospective donors, legislators, and media contacts.
  • Manages and maintains donor database to include basic donor information, donations, and donor acknowledgments.
  • Utilizes CRM to pull reports, mailing lists, and donor records to assist in fundraising efforts such as individual asks, annual mailings, and grant writing.
  • Manages in-kind donations including tracking, gift acceptance, and gift acknowledgments.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and PR Committee, creates annual fund development plan and relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Stays current with foundation trends and giving priorities
  • Provide training to the HMHBGA team to ensure consistent and effective brand communication via social media, website, video production, print materials, and verbal communication.
  • In collaboration with contractors, manages HMHBGA’s website to ensure its current content, functionality and monitor its performance.
  • Develops and implements systems to update website content, design across all program areas.
  • In collaboration with contractors and Vista’s, designs and publishes marketing pieces utilizing emerging tools to help increase awareness of program areas.
  • Develops marketing and social media strategies, using social media data and analytics to make key decisions.
  • Manages the organization’s communications assets, including photo library, success stories, logo library, infographics, design files, print, and digital collateral.
  • Manages and coordinates communication and development contractors.
  • Provides assets to other team members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business administration or equivalent desired.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of communications experience with a proven track record of increasing brand awareness.
  • Minimum 3+ years of nonprofit fund development and/or related CSR experience with a proven revenue generation track record.
  • Experience with content creation and donor management software.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, and the ability to write in a clear and compelling style.
  • Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods and approaches.
  • Ability to analyze the effectiveness of all marketing and communications efforts.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects, activities, and actions with competing deadlines and levels of urgency.
  • Self-motivated, accountable to goals and willingness to learn new techniques, ideas, and skills.
  • Experience with public health or non-profit, preferred.
