Program Overview

The CHRIS 180 Behavioral Health program provides counseling services for children, adolescents, adults and families in the metro Atlanta area.  There are five Clinical Directors, six counseling center locations and a school based mental health program that currently serves 72 schools. In addition, through many local partnerships with local service providers on-site counseling and support are provided. Services include behavioral health assessments, diagnostic verifications, service plan development sessions, individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, community support, case management, and nursing and psychiatric services. The VP is a forward thinking individual who supervises the management of all Counseling Centers, the Integrated Health Clinic and supervises the Clinical Directors and Utilization Management Team. The VP manages all current partnerships (MOUs) and is responsible for seeking and adding new partners as appropriate.  The VP coordinates all services including training of personnel and ensures there is consistency of services and systems across CHRIS 180 Behavioral Health services, and counseling centers.

Position Description

The VP of Behavioral Health is responsible to lead and grow the behavioral health components of CHRIS 180, function as a collaborative partner with other departmental leaders and represent CHRIS 180 to the public as a clinical professional leader.  The VP will establish and maintain positive working relationships with the State DBHDD, with the DCH, private insurance companies and the community at large on behalf of CHRIS 180. 

The VP of Behavioral Health is responsible for the oversight and success of CHRIS 180’s Behavioral Health services, Utilization Management and Integrated Health Care Clinic. The VP of Behavioral Health serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and leads the Behavioral Health Team.  The VP of Behavioral Health must be knowledgeable about ASO audits, DBHDD guidelines, insurances and billing processes. Licensure, clinical knowledge of best practices, trauma-informed care and clinical experience working with children, youth, adolescents and families is a requirement.  The VP of Behavioral Health must understand grant reporting, data collection, monitor government grant opportunities be able to lead efforts working with grant writers to secure federal, state and local funding for behavioral health services. Knowledge of Medicaid and private insurance billing, budgets and managing employees is critical.  Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

The VP of Behavioral Health Services must possess the following:

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy or professional counseling,  psychology or a related field
  • Have active independent clinical licensure and maintain licensure in good standing while employed
  • At least ten years of management experience and experience in clinical supervision
  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed Behavioral Health Services
  • Knowledge of a systematic approach to services
  • Knowledge of billing processes and policies
  • Prior experience working in the human services field and working with trauma

Leadership, Management, Supervision and Support of Behavioral Health Clinical Directors and Utilization Management (UM) Manager

  • Responsible for up to eight direct reports who currently lead teams totaling over 150 staff serving more than 8,000 clients annually
  • Screen, interview, and select Clinical Directors and assist in other hiring needs within the Behavioral Health department
  • Provide ongoing management, oversight, coaching and guidance to Behavioral Health staff
  • Promote positive working relationships among Behavioral Health employees
  • Ensure adequate staffing is maintained throughout the year
  • Provide direction for growth and development and participate in the evaluation of staff members

Administrative Oversight

  • Responsible for creating and managing the Behavioral Health budget in collaboration with direct reports, the COO and CFO
  • Lead Behavioral Health meetings, contract meetings, partnership meetings and DBHDD meetings, as appropriate.
  • Remain up to date on current DBHDD polices, insurance policies and ASO auditing guidelines
  • Assist and Coordinate Performance Quality Improvement (PQI), periodically reviewing/revising Behavioral Health services policies
  • Collect programmatic data for each Counseling Center and maintain a system for tracking all measures needed for organization, contract or grant reporting
  • Provide data summaries to COO, DBHDD and contacts on a monthly basis         

Clinical Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Understand principles and practices of trauma-informed care and best clinical practices
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance for Clinical Directors
  • Maintain licensure
  • Remain up-to-date on all clinical and administrative policies of CHRIS 180 in general and specifically as it relates to Behavioral Health services

  • Follow mandated reporting requirements of GA Code
  • Support and maintain an environment of emotional, psychological and physical safety for clients, staff and other stakeholders at all times

Reports to: COO

SCHEDULE:

The work schedule requires significant flexibility to meet the needs of the Counseling Center clients, staff, and responsiveness to clinical emergencies. The VP of Behavioral Health Services is required to be adaptable and work occasional evenings and/or weekend events, as needed. The VP of Behavioral Health Services is a full -time, salaried position.
