General Description:

The key purpose of this position is to work collaboratively with Senior Leadership and program staff to achieve organization-wide objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Represent MUST Ministries in the most positive manner with clients, suppliers and the community we serve.  Interact effectively with a diverse group of staff, and clients of our service, learns and uses operating practices of MUST Ministries.
  • Support learning through performance of essential job functions and perform other duties and functions as necessary or as assigned.
  • In consultation with senior leadership, develops and recommends an annual strategy for maximizing resource development objectives, plans, and specific activities to be pursued in each area of responsibility within the context of the organization’s strategic and operating plans.
  • Oversee development and work collaboratively with and in support of administration, programs, volunteers, and other staff to cultivate and solicit donors for organization-wide priorities.
  • Implement a resource development strategy that effectively markets the organization and educates the public in terms of issues and maximize the organization's resource development efforts.
  • Oversee and manage the resource development annual budget and forecast, including assumptions for resources and expenses.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of an annual, special events calendar that ensures the efforts, resources and the volunteer time are utilized in a manner that provides the greatest return to the organization. Ensure all events are planned to capture the attention of the intended audience and the media.
  • Support the President/CEO and Governance Committee.
  • Support the Development Committee, serve as the key staff liaison, and make presentations to the Board on resource development strategies, results, and activities as required.
  • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle, including in-kind donations
    • initiate contacts with potential donors.
    • develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers and senior leadership.
    • move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure.
    • make solicitations when appropriate; (5) to maintain stewardship contacts with donors.
  • Manage relationships with approximately 50 prospective donors and foundations and is expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these stakeholders.
  • Solicit and steward gifts from major donors; monitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations with measurable results.
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts.
  • Keep abreast of all trends in the resource development industry.
  • Update and maintain records in MUST Ministries’ database to ensure all records and  contacts are current as well  as maintain records of all in-kind donations.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or other related field
  • Minimum of seven years combined of donor and grant solicitation, marketing, and fundraising experience in an organization involving a significant number of people with diverse and varied interests and backgrounds.
  • Senior management experience with demonstrated success in teamwork and coaching others, leadership, and developing and implementing innovative concepts
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Successful track record of growth in resource development, continually meeting or exceeding development goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to, and understand the needs and interests of donors, prospects, volunteers and other key audiences and the ability to translate this into effective fundraising.
  • Ability to promote the organization’s fundraising and strategic priorities by developing excellent working relations with senior leadership and development staff.
  • Must have solid relationship-building skills, able to interface with donors and prospects.
  • Problem-solving, research and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to travel around the region and to other areas of the country,
  • Must have a driver's license; weekend and evening work will be required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
  • Able to work under pressure of deadlines.
  • Physical and Work Requirements:
  • Work is mostly performed in an office environment; however offsite meetings and events are required.
  • May be required to lift up to 10 lbs.
