The First Religious Society of Newburyport, Unitarian Universalist (FRSUU) seeks candidates for the position of Business Administrator (BA).  This is a part-time, 32 hours/week position with pro-rated benefits.

Overview of the Congregation

Based in one of the most iconic buildings in beautiful, downtown Newburyport, MA, the FRSUU is a growing church community with 500 members.  We are an active, multi-generational congregation with a strong tradition of religious education for children and youth; life-long spiritual growth; and a commitment to community engagement, justice, diversity, equity and inclusion. 

Position Description

The FRS Business Administrator (BA) has key responsibility for managing the business affairs of the church and works with the Minister, church members and staff to achieve the church’s mission. The Business Administrator must demonstrate skills in financial administration; personnel, facilities and stewardship (fundraising) management; and must be open to professional growth with our dynamic congregation. The BA is primarily responsible for getting things done in the day-to-day operations of the church. The BA is expected to participate in many decision making activities affecting the operations of the church, and works in partnership with the Office Administrator and Sexton as part of an eight-member professional team.


The prorated salary range for this 0.8 FTE position is $55,050 – $60,000/year based upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.  FRS offers a generous program of benefits including health and life insurance and a retirement benefit (prorated for a 0.8FTE).
