JOB SUMMARY:
The VP, Marketing & Communications provides leadership and direction to the organization for internal and external communications, marketing, branding, and public relations. The VP of Marketing & Communications works with the President & CEO, board of Directors, the marketing and development staff and other BGCMA officers to execute communication strategies for resource development, staff and youth recruitment, and internal communications. Develops and maintains strong public relations to increase Club visibility.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Leadership

 Develop an integrated strategic communications plan to advance Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s brand and broaden awareness of its programs and priorities with key stakeholders.
 Oversee crisis communications in conjunction with Programs & Operations leadership.
 Lead internal communications efforts to keep employees educated, informed, and connected to the mission.
 Develops strategy for and executes internal communications related to major change initiatives, crisis situations, and other strategic communication priorities.
 Serves on the organization’s Senior Leadership Team and provides thought leadership around communication strategy with key decisions.
Board Committee
 Works with the Board Resource Development & Marketing Committee to solicit funds and helps the Committee plan, implement and evaluate long-term development and marketing activities.
Budget & Team Leadership
 Develops, implements and controls department’s budgets and ensures staff understand and adhere to budget.
 Manages a small marketing and communications team and provides support and accountability for outcomes.
Partnership Development
 Develops and maintains strategic alliances with community leaders, key media, and local officials.

 Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations and community organizations.
Public Relations
 Collaborates with the President & CEO and Board to plan and execute publicity campaigns.
 Develops relationships with media organizations and important influencers and solicits positive media placements.
 Speaks on behalf of the organization in media interviews as needed.
 Tracks campaign success and media coverage.
 Addresses negative press or PR crises if they occur.
Marketing and Communications
 Oversees and evaluates marketing and communication activities and identifies opportunities to improve results.
 Ensures the visibility of club activities and maintains positive public relations.
 Oversees the design, development and distribution of all marketing collateral used to promote the organization for staff and youth recruitment as well as and fund-raising activities.
 Oversees the organization’s presence on social media and develops strategies to grow impact of various social media platforms.
 Oversees market research to uncover attitudes and perceptions toward brand and identify strengths and areas for growth.
 Oversees and maintains brand compliance org wide.
 Oversees the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Education

 Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
Experience
 Minimum eight (8) years of work experience in Marketing and Communications
 Minimum five (5) years of work experience in non-profit agency operations, primarily in communications with responsibility for and exposure to marketing and resource development
 Knowledge of marketing and fundraising strategies
 Experience managing and providing oversight and direction to staff and developing and managing a budget required
 Experience with youth serving organization highly preferred
Skills
 Persuasive, strong oral and written communication skills
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies
 Leadership, supervisory, team building, collaborating and mentoring skills required
 Proficient user of MS Office, Outlook


ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal internal office environment with frequent travel to Clubs and the Support Center. Sporatic evening work to support normal Club hours and occasional weekends to support organization’s fundraising events, special events, and activities. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout organization is required. Physical requirements include walking, climbing stairs, and sitting for four plus hours per day. Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
