Clinical Director 

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Clinical Director to serve at Red Shield Services located in Atlanta Georgia.

 

Job Summary

Provides individual, family, and group counseling in relation to the treatment and recovery of substance abuse for Harbor Light and Shelter clients; prepares clients for re-entry into the family and community maintaining sobriety and self-sufficient life style. Prepares and maintains up-to-date client records and reports. Meets with other case management staff in order to coordinate treatment objectives. Refers clients to community resources as appropriate.
 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Working knowledge of group dynamics, disease concept of addiction, Twelve Step recovery program and relapse prevention. Knowledge of effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records. Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment when addressing and resolving substance abuse matters. Ability to maintain the security of confidential records. Ability to render competent casework services. Ability to plan, develops, and coordinates meetings for clients. Ability to maintain the trust and confidence of the Program Supervisor/Director. Ability and willingness to be involved in the Twelve Step program is strongly encouraged. Ability to comprehend procedures for maintaining case files within contract compliance.

 

Education and Experience

Bachelors of Arts Degree or Associate Arts Degree majoring in one behavioral sciences And Two years experience in a licensed substance abuse treatment program Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
 

Certifications

Certified Addiction Counselor (C.A.C)And/or License Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)
 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate English language. Ability to operate and answer the telephone. Ability to stay alert and awake while on duty. No evidence of substance abuse for a minimum of two (2) years preferred. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 23lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
