Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Department: Receiving Hope Center (RHC)
Reports to: Lead Nurse Practitioner
Hours: Up to 27 hours per week based on availability and need; typical schedule between 12:00-9:00 p.m. including weekdays and weekends
Location: Receiving Hope Center (RHC)
Position Summary: The CMA or LPN is responsible for delivering basic on-site medical services for youth participants of the Receiving Hope Center, with coordination by the lead nurse practitioner and oversight by the medical director.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Medical Residential Services
- Provide regular basic on-site medical services for participants, as needed and within established parameters under guidance of medical director
- Coordinate off-site medical care for participants
- Assist with maintenance of policies and procedures related to medical care
- Support staff training and compliance monitoring related to medical policies and procedures, including periodic reviews of the medication administration record (MAR)
- Assist with management of medical equipment and supply inventory, collaborating to ensure spending aligns with budget
- Gather data on participant medical needs and trends
- As needed, assist with implementation of medical intake checklist to confirm basic wellness clearance for intake
- Develop recommendations on participant services, activities and resources related to medical care

Professional Qualifications:
- Administrative, organizational, and computer skills including use of email and Microsoft Office suite of products
- Documentation of references (at least two professional and one personal) that attest to the person’s capability of performing the duties of the position and to the person’s suitability of working with or around children and vulnerable populations
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- As a CMA, requirements include a medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting; national certification for the registered medical assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or for the certified assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- As an LPN, requirements include graduation from an accredited LPN program
- Active Georgia licensure or licensure compact to practice in Georgia, as applicable
- Current CPR certification and current health records with appropriate immunizations to work in the healthcare field
- Minimum one year of experience working with children in an acute care or outpatient setting, including experience with vital signs, venipuncture, capillary and injection
- Minimum one year of experience working with vulnerable youth populations strongly preferred
Position Requirements:
- Minimal travel as needed
- Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds and work for long periods at a computer
- Satisfactory criminal history background check
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Clearance for medical malpractice insurance coverage
