JOB SUMMARY

The Program Assistant, Leadership and Talent (PA) is a member of the Leadership and Talent Team, which is part of the larger US Jewish Grantmaking Portfolio, based in Schusterman’s Washington, D.C., office. The PA will have an opportunity to advance initiatives as part of Schusterman’s agenda focused on leadership and talent. Specifically, the PA will support and implement key aspects of Schusterman’s flagship leadership development program, the Schusterman Fellowship – a program designed to develop and retain exceptional professional and volunteer talent in the Jewish nonprofit sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Schusterman Fellowship program participants, coaches, facilitators and grantee partners. 
  • Contribute to developing and implementing strategy and activities for the Leadership and Talent team.
  • Support Schusterman Fellows as they set leadership development goals and pursue their leadership plans.
  • Help Schusterman Fellows make matches between their goals and leadership providers on our preferred provider list; research new partner providers and maintain the list.
  • Match Schusterman Fellows with executive coaches from our coaching pool who will support them through their leadership development journey.
  • Support Schusterman Fellows through the leadership assessment process whereby they are seeking feedback from colleagues, supervisors and direct reports.
  • Adapt our standard surveys to evaluate satisfaction with Schusterman Fellowship gatherings and impact of gatherings on Schusterman Fellows' leadership growth; analyze survey results, making recommendations about program changes based on feedback.
  • Create and manage project timelines for major initiatives such as Schusterman Fellowship gatherings and recruitment processes, keeping the Leadership and Talent team accountable to moving forward.
  • Draft Schusterman Fellowship emails, newsletters and website communications related to the ongoing implementation of the program.
  • Apply a racial equity, diversity and inclusion [REDI] lens to all aspects of the work.
  • Provide administrative support, including tasks like updating contact information in our database and processing payments for Schusterman Fellows' leadership development pursuits.
  • Promote Schusterman’s values of collaboration, humility, equity, impact and optimism, and contribute to a culture of trust, excellence and risk-taking with the Leadership and Talent team.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are representative of the high level of demonstrated skills, maturity, judgment and ability to work with a wide range of constituencies required of Schusterman employees:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is required.
  • At least one year of successful hands-on program or project management experience preferred.
  • Familiarity engaging in practices of racial equity, diversity and inclusion [REDI] preferred.
  • Practical experience with leadership development and/or coaching preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to develop cooperative and effective working relationships with supervisory personnel, co-workers, colleagues, current and potential grantees and network members, other grantor organizations and the general public required.
  • Analytical and research abilities necessary to use data to assist with development of strategic decisions required.
  • Proven skill and comfort in prioritizing, holding multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently delivering high-quality work product required.
  • PC skills with proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social media, as well as basic web skills and comfort required.
  • Commitment to Schusterman’s organizational values, cultural principles and commitment to equity.
  • Ability to travel, on occasion, required.

COMPENSATION

Competitive salary band of $60,000-$70,000 based on experience and on Schusterman’s commitment to internal equity. A strong benefits package is also included. Schusterman encourages ongoing professional development and supports activities aligned with one’s individual career growth plan. Schusterman does not cover relocation expenses for this position.
