The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is a member-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops, promotes, and implements advanced transportation technologies, vehicles, and fuels that reduce environmental pollution and fossil fuel dependency. This job opportunity is located in Midtown Atlanta. CTE staff continues to primarily work from home with limited travel during the pandemic, however the Atlanta office is currently open with limited occupancy and social distancing requirements in place.

CTE is seeking a full-time Engineering Associate to provide technical analysis to transportation electrification projects. This position will use analytic tools such as Excel, scripts, simulations, databases, and data visualization tools for the analysis. This role also offers the opportunity to further develop and improve CTE's processes and tools. Job duties may also include administrative work such as report writing and facilitating meetings with clients.
- Use, develop and maintain Excel worksheets
- Use, develop and maintain scripts
- Use, develop and maintain data visualization tools
- Working with clients to assess needs and collect data
- Writing technical reports and technical proposals
- Analytical bent
- Proficient with Excel
- Some experience scripting, e.g. Python, Matlab, R, VBA
- Demonstrated history of collaboration and teamwork
- Proficient in English writing
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Engineering or computer science degree program (however other degrees are encouraged to apply)
- Some knowledge of physics including basic mechanical and electrical principles (however we will fill in any gaps in your knowledge)
- Experience with transportation electrification
- Experience working in public transit, especially in transit planning
- Project management experience
- Grant and/or proposal writing experience
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to work independently to overcome technical obstacles, suggest better approaches, and communicate effectively – verbally, visually, and in writing. The ability to juggle multiple projects is an absolute must. Travel will be required once it is safe to do so. We do not expect anyone to meet all or even most of the desired qualifications, so if you are a confident, analytical, self-starter interested in the environment and public transit, we encourage you to apply.
