Job Details

Mosaic Georgia is a Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) and Sexual Assault Center serving Gwinnett and Rockdale counties. Our mission is to take action and guide change for the safety, health, and justice of children and adults impacted by sexual violence and abuse.

We offer a mosaic of services and coordinate with several agencies and organizations to help people put the pieces of their lives back together with dignity and discretion. 

Client services include 24/7 crisis line, forensic medical exams, forensic interviews, advocacy services, civil legal services, and counseling support in one private location. 

Operating Budget:  $2.7 million     Sources:  66% government (federal, state, county)    20% fee income   14%  private sources  

Position Summary

The Development & Fundraising Director leads Mosaic Georgia’s resource development strategies to support Mosaic Georgia’s mission and strategic priorities by:

  1. Building relationships and inspiring investment in the pursuit of safety, health and justice
  2. Positioning Mosaic Georgia to attract more funding, partnerships, and mission-aligned relationships in Gwinnett County and the metro region. 
  3. Increasing financial support for services and initiatives through major gifts, program partnerships, fundraising events, and foundation grants.
  4. Expanding the number of financial and in-kind partners for each existing service and planned initiatives.

Current strategies include corporate, foundation and government grants,  on-line fundraising strategies (i.e., digital fundraising, peer-to-peer, social media, blogs, and eblasts), annual events, and Board of Directors giving.  A capital campaign will be forthcoming.

This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with the Managing Director, Communications Manager, and Operations Manager to meet the annual objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

Execute resource development strategies to meet annual budgeted goals in key areas:

  • Public financial investment 
  • Private sources  
    • Foundations, corporations, major donors
    • Friend- and fundraising events 
    • Partnerships, collaboration       
  • Resources (non-cash – donated goods & services) 
  • Capital investments for new facility  

Visibility & Prospective Donor Engagement & Investment

  • Strengthen existing and build new relationships with diverse community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships with corporate, foundation and individual prospects to secure funding to meet revenue goals
  • Cultivate new corporate, community and individual prospective donors for Mosaic Georgia’s engagement and fundraising priorities
  • Engage with donors year-round, recognizing impact of gift, communicating progress and results, inspiring involvement and ensuring quality experience

Private Grants & Major Gifts

  • Maintain and update the grants calendar for private foundation grant opportunities.
  • Cultivate prospective foundations and businesses to add new funder support for specific programs and services, expanded facilities, and general operations.
  • Each month, ensure quality proposals or applications are submitted in a timely manner and reporting requirements are fulfilled.

Special Events

  • Oversee special events to include fundraising, donor recognition, and partner cultivation.  
  • Mosaic Masterpieces – 2021.  Obtain new sponsors and increase participation.

Specialty Donor Initiatives

  • Develop and maintain a successful corporate, foundation, and individual solicitation program.
  • Identify, recruit and develop new donor prospects on a year-round basis.
  • Oversee the administration of the donor contacts in SalesForce database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.

Required to work occasional evenings and weekends based on events and activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of progressive experience in a similar role
  • Comprehensive knowledge in nonprofit fundraising, communications, and marketing
  • Current on philanthropic, fundraising, business and economic trends that may impact needs and resources
  • Skilled fundraiser balancing strategic and operational needs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software
  • Effective presenter, active listener, open to new ideas, keeps supporters informed and engaged
  • Self-directed, pro-active and holds one-self accountable
  • Comfortable de-stigmatizing interpersonal violence and advocating for the safety, health and justice for kids and adults who experienced sexual abuse/violence

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled fundraiser balancing strategic and operational needs
  • Distill complex information into a simple, clear message using examples, stories, and community information that are relevant and resonate with the donor, volunteer, and partner
  • Enjoys a collaborative workplace with diversity in many forms
  • Proven ability and experience with grant writing both public and private
  • Planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate mission, goals and outcomes effectively and persuasively
  • Able to work (and thrive) under pressure
