The SF Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 5 people are at risk of hunger. We are currently looking for a SFP Distribution Supervisor to help support partners and participants.  See job description below and apply today if you would like to join us in our mission to end hunger.

POSITION PURPOSE

The SF- Marin Food Bank’s (SFMFB) mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. The Supplemental Food Program (SFP) is a federal program that provides a monthly box of nutritious USDA food to low-income seniors.

The SFP Distribution Supervisor will supervise onsite a team of staff who register participants and distribute food through the Supplemental Food Program (SFP) at monthly food distributions. This position will also have shared responsibility for SFP administrative tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Onsite Duties:

  • Ensure that the program operates in accordance with federal and state regulations onsite.
  • Supervise distribution site staff and operations at SFP distributions when no manager is present.
  • Work with SFP Senior Program Manager and SFP Program Manager to ensure staff are motivated and provide excellent customer service to participants.
  • Work with SFP Program Manager to ensure sites are properly staffed and notify Manager when there is a need of temporary staff.
  • Maintain an orderly atmosphere at distributions.
  • Schedule breaks & lunch for staff.
  • Begin and close distributions on time.
  • Supervise & participate in set up and clean up. This may include arranging tables, chairs, food boxes, laptops and other program materials.
  • Register participants and/or distribute food boxes whenever additional support is needed.
  • Handle issues that arise and communicate with SFP Program Manager regularly.

Remote or in office duties:

  • Support in processing SFP agency paperwork such as agency participant applications, re-certifications, and monthly signature sheets.
  • Work with SFP Manager to conduct participant communication such as reminders, reschedules, or closures and participant outreach mailings.
  • Ensure enough materials, paperwork, and all necessary equipment is packed for loading for each site.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual in Cantonese required.
  • High school (or equivalent) required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Computer and data entry experience.
  • Supervisorial experience.
  • Direct service experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to multitask.
  • Be able to resolve conflicts (assist dissatisfied participants), good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and interact well with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment.

FINGER DEXTERITY:                             Requires typing on standard computer.

TALKING:                                                Ability to speak on phone and face to face.

HEARING:                                               Able to hear average or normal conversations and recieve ordinary information. 

REPETITIVE MOTIONS:                         Frequent and regular movements using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES:             Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:                        NOT APPLICABLE.

COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

REASONING ABILITY:                           Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to interpret instructions.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY:                       Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:                             Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
