The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 50 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 4 people are at risk of hunger. We are currently looking for Corporate Giving Officer  to help provide oversite and leadership to the operation of multiple popup food distributions. POSITION PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Corporate Development Manager, the Corporate Giving Officer develops strategies, relationships and directly solicits mid-level corporate donors and prospects to the Food Bank. The Officer will also manage and execute a variety of community campaigns, including peer-to-peer, third party and workplace giving campaigns. S/he will collaborate closely with other teams throughout the department and the organization to increase corporate engagement and support, including Grants, Major Gifts, Annual Fund, and Community Engagement teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Fundraising

  • Works in collaboration with the Corporate Development Team – who will raise $2.8 million over the course of the year – in the execution of work plan and developing future strategy in this area
  • Manages a portfolio of corporate donors and prospects giving $1,000-$10,000 to the Food Bank, and achieves an ambitious annual revenue goal set for the portfolio
  • Develops and implements a cultivation program for first-time corporate donors in order to deepen relationships, increase retention, and maximize giving
  • Sustains and grows current corporate sponsorship programs to support programs and services of the SF -Marin Food Banks by developing and promoting sponsorship levels with established recognition benefits
  • Serves as a liaison to businesses and corporations who support the Food Bank; represents the Food Bank at meetings and events
  • Completes donor research for prospective corporate donors, including: following news and business media to track current trends, industry news, and information about current donors to develop prospect list.
  • Provides excellent customer service to corporate donors, replying promptly to email correspondence and developing an understanding of what motivates them to support the Food Bank.
  • Oversees process, planning, and execution of mail and email outreach to corporate partners (i.e. holiday mailings, e-newsletter, etc.)

Working with the Team

  • Solicits and stewards key Corporate Grant makers and shares grant deadlines and other information with the Grants team so appropriate applications and reports can be submitted
  • Works closely with the Community Engagement team to facilitate engagement opportunities for employees and teams that deepen the Food Bank’s relationship with corporations and businesses
  • Works with Marketing and Communications team to ensure that Corporate donors are appropriately recognized in website, Annual Report, Breadwinners wall, event programs, social media, etc.
  • Assists in preparation and implementation of other operational and fundraising activities as needed

Workplace Giving

  • Collaborates with corporate and community partners, Food Bank staff, and others to successfully plan and execute a new strategy to increase workplace giving among corporate employees.
  • Oversees strategy development, planning, and execution of major campaigns such as Food From The Bar and holiday drives, as well as drives sponsored by organizations such as the SF Giants, Boy Scouts, National Association of Letter Carriers, Macy’s and others in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team.

Administration

  • Maintains corporate donor records with the most current donor contact information, relationship linkages, as well as donor recognition listing preferences.
  • Tracks all solicitation and correspondence information on current and prospective donors in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Ensures corporate database and files are up to date.
  • Ensures that corporate gifts are processed and recognized in a timely manner.
  • Tracks revenue budget for area of responsibility
  • Creates and produces regular reports from database.
  • Uses Raisers Edge, Word, and Excel to generate acknowledgment/thank you letters, certificates of appreciation and other correspondence.
  • Ensures materials are produced, signed, and mailed promptly.
  • Follows news and business media to track current trends, industry news, information about current donors and to develop prospect list

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A. degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of relationship management and fundraising experience for non-profit organizations, preferably with social services organizations or related corporate experience
  • Experience with corporate philanthropy, sponsorships and current relationships within the corporate giving network preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills required; must demonstrate ability to forge excellent relationships with donors as well as work well with a team of co-workers, senior managers and a diverse board of directors
  • Must be comfortable presenting in front of large groups
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting with collaborative, open communication style
  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service to all individuals, regardless of race, sex, socioeconomic background, age, physical ability, etc.
  • Strong time-management skills; ability to prioritize projects, multitask, and work through constant interruptions
  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships across multiple departments and teams
  • Outstanding attention to detail, analytical ability, and research skills
  • Proficiency with CRM database, particularly Raiser’s Edge, is highly desired
  • Excellent planning, writing, and presentation skills that will represent the Food Bank’s mission, goals and philosophies with the highest professional standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Eager to research and ask questions when faced with an unknown task/inquiry
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and show good judgment
  • Positive, adventurous, can-do, will-try-anything attitude highly valued

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform advanced math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
