AGENCY DESCRIPTION: Mental Health America of Georgia (MHAG) is a non-profit whose mission is to enhance the mental health and wellness of Georgians through education, outreach and advocacy. We envision that all Georgians will have improved mental wellness outcomes through educating the community regarding mental health, promoting mental wellness and ensuring policies to support mental illness, health and wellness. We work to reduce suicide rates and eliminate mental health stigma to increase access to behavioral health services and supports. We advocate for equitable culturally competent mental health polices and laws to protect against health disparities and discrimination.

Resource Development Specialist
Development Specialist will be responsible for supporting donor engagement and fundraising to drive unrestricted revenue, as well as a limited amount of restricted revenue. The Development Specialist will be responsible for acknowledgments, thank you, annual fund, memorial and honor giving, corporate matching gift, combined federal campaign and other federated programs. The ideal candidate for this position will focus on mail and telemarketing campaigns as well as integration with digital campaigns and will support the Director of Operations & Development with strategic fundraising, technical and reporting projects. This position will also develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive plan to build strategic year-round relationships that align with the mission, vision and values of MHAG.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist with development of major gifts program: identify potential major donors, maintain a donor pipeline, cultivate donor relationships, solicit donors for contributions, and steward donors.

· Research and support grant-writing for grants less than $20,000; create and maintain relationships with foundation staff.

· Develop and manage corporate partnerships; Solicit and secure corporate gifts

· Support the development and execution of overarching outreach, marketing and PR strategies for the agency.

· Provide clerical and administrative support to all development functions, including mail appeals, social media communication, campaigns, campaign events, and government grants as needed.

· Create a donor engagement strategy targeted at returning, new, lapsing, and lapsed donors;

· Implement donor stewardship activities to increase participation and retention

Knowledge of:

Ø Missions, goals, objectives, programs of Mental Health America of Georgia

Ø Awareness campaigns, nonprofit and program management

Ø Community service, service learning, and volunteerism.

Ø Analytical skills and experience creating reports and grant writing Mental health and/or substance abuse

Ø Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

Ø Time management and organization skills

Ø Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary

Ø Strong technology skills and experience that ideally includes an understanding of: large-scale database management; nonprofit constituent relationship management systems; and web-application development processes

Ability to:

Ø Provide exceptional communication and relationship building skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, with excellent listening skills.

Minimum Qualifications for Education & Experience

Ø Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of direct marketing fundraising experience in non-profit or agency setting

Ø Experience with direct marketing campaigns

Licensures & Certifications

Required: Valid Georgia driver’s license & personal vehicle

Essential Capabilities & Work Environment

Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Must be able to work in an open office environment; to shift between focused work tasks and informal community engagement situations fluidly. Candidates must be willing to work flexible schedules – including some nights and weekend days – to accommodate the needs of the job. Office is currently working remotely due to Pandemic, must have ability to work remotely.
