Through educational training, programs and services, Braille Institute helps people regain and maintain their independence through six regional centers (Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Anaheim, Laguna Hills, Coachella Valley, and San Diego) and through more than 300 community outreach locations. Each year, Braille Institute serves more than 37,000 people of all ages and demonstrates that vision rehabilitation is a beginning, not an end.

We currently are seeking a Senior Case Manager at our Los Angeles Center. This position is responsible for: Conducting holistic clinical psychosocial assessments of clients experiencing low vision and supervise Case Managers. Creating and implementing integrated treatment plans based on assessments and skillfully use new technology (particularly ETO database software) to assess student outcomes and evaluate success of treatment plans. Offering feedback about goals and help identify skills for client success and generate new ideas and find ways to overcome obstacles by referring to BIA internal programs. Providing counseling about vocational options and personal matters. Facilitating communication between clients and support structure and create opportunities for family support. Creating and maintaining a strategic guide of community resources and connect Braille Institute clients with appropriate social service organizations in the community in order to support treatment plans as well as serve as a liaison with organizations on behalf of clients. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners. Managing student crisis interventions Supervise Case Managers. Attending and participating in departmental meetings and trainings.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in social work is required and strong background in community-based organizations (CBO’s); Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a social services environment; Advanced knowledge of current practices in counseling and assessment and advanced crisis intervention techniques. Preferred experience or knowledge with visually impaired individuals; Knowledge with online education programs, or other technology-mediated instruction preferred. Ability to multi-task, market and implement a wide variety of programs for a diverse population Excellent communication and computer skills are essential; Excellent organization, training and presentation skills; exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to creatively problem solve. Bi-lingual is preferred Working knowledge of standard office computer software is required Braille Institute is an equal opportunity employer (EEOC).
