Job Details
Our House is seeking qualified family services professionals to join our team! We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Family Advocate.
The Family Advocate is primarily responsible for the intake and assessment of families into the Family Services program, documenting each case appropriately and providing appropriate supportive services to meet each family's needs. The Family Advocate will work with families to assist them to transition into more permanent housing arrangements. The Family Advocate will also develop community partnerships and coordinate with other organizations and agencies, to develop a well-rounded referral base and provide necessary follow-up to ensure the required services have been received. The Family Advocate reports to the Director of Housing and Family Services.
Brief Summary or Description:
Required Experience: 1 year related experience required
Preferred Experience: 2 years of service delivery to families experiencing homelessness, mental health, substance abuse or other life barriers in a residential setting.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a social science or related field
Preferred Education: Masters’ Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology
Desired Skills and Characteristics:
Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work well with children and families. Management, organizational and planning skills, multi-tasking independently with little supervision. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suites and the ability to catch on fast with semi-complicated and complex software systems
