Job Summary

South Rome Alliance (SRA) is a community development nonprofit working to develop and support high-quality mixed-income housing, cradle to college educational opportunities, and community investments that attract and retain residents of all backgrounds in the South Rome neighborhood of Rome, GA. Since 2002, SRA has helped develop over 150 affordable rental units and a dozen affordable homes for sale, started and operated an award-winning early learning center, and attracted millions of dollars in public and private investment to a community which has experienced decades of disinvestment. As one of the 27 network members of Purpose-Built Communities, SRA receives extensive consulting services, technical assistance, and network building from this national support network.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall executive and operational responsibility for SRA's programs, partnerships, expansion, and execution of its mission. She or he will advance a recently approved strategic plan to accomplish:

  • Increasing the population of the South Meadows community through mixed income housing
  • Enabling high-quality educational opportunities from pre-K through 5th grade in the South Rome community

  • Manage the programs and projects of the organization including project planning, project management, and rigorous program evaluation.
  • Maintain, support, and collaborate with a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction.
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate program components to measure successes and effectively communicate them to the board, funders, and other constituents.
  • Lead and manage current and/or future staff, whether paid, intern, or volunteer.

Partner and Community Engagement

  • Actively support and engage SRA board members, volunteers, committees, partnering organizations, and funders.
  • Fully utilize all the available resources of the Purpose-Built Communities Network including consulting services, online and print resources, professional development, and networking with other Purpose-Built Communities.
  • Support and lead the organization’s efforts to engage with community members in the South Rome neighborhood; serve as a “community quarterback” to bring together neighbors and community partners.

Fundraising and Communications

  • Assist the Board of Directors in developing and implementing a comprehensive revenue generating strategy. Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and future projects with the support of the Board of Directors.
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
  • Use external presence and relationships to build a stronger public presence for the organization and garner new opportunities.
