Georgia SNAP Connection Program Coordinator

Wholesome Wave Georgia (Atlanta, Georgia)

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

At Wholesome Wave Georgia, we believe all Georgians will have access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food choices. Founded in 2009, Wholesome Wave Georgia’s mission is to facilitate access to and awareness of healthy food choices for all Georgians in need through local farmers and community partners.

Wholesome Wave Georgia was launched as a statewide chapter of Wholesome Wave, the national organization, to double Federal Nutrition Assistance, such as SNAP and WIC benefits, at Georgia’s farmers markets. Since Wholesome Wave Georgia’s founding, Wholesome Wave Georgia provided over $3.1 million in healthy food to Georgia’s families and revenue to Georgia’s small, independent farmers through our Georgia Fresh For Less program and our Georgia Food For Health program.

Our Georgia SNAP Connection program provides SNAP enrollment assistance and outreach to our neighbors in need, SNAP recipients.  Wholesome Wave Georgia is a Community Partner of the Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Children and Family Services.  The Georgia SNAP Connection program recently expanded from 3 regular enrollment sites to 11, with a growing team of community partners and ambassadors.

ORGANIZATION CORE VALUES

At Wholesome Wave Georgia, we are rooted in our core values. Our core values are the guiding principles for our team, our programs, and how we impact the communities we serve.

  4. Collaborative. We depend on each other and our community to fight food insecurity and support local agriculture in Georgia.
  5. Bold. We are not afraid to challenge convention with fresh ideas and voices that benefit Georgians and the local food movement.
  6. Inclusive. We value equity and dignity for all and are proud to be representative of the neighbors, families, and communities we serve.
  7. Fun. We give ourselves freedom to celebrate and play in an authentic and accepting workplace culture.
