Job Details

Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for devising, developing and delivering a comprehensive strategic and tactical plan for business development, income generation and awareness-raising for Tommy Nobis Center and Nobis Enterprises.  The Director of Business Development is responsible for strategic planning and relationship development leading to growth and development of new contract opportunities for business services, Nobis Enterprises, production at TNC as well as commercial opportunities and employment sites that support the employment of individuals with disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Markets the services of Tommy Nobis Center and Nobis Enterprises to procure additional contracts. Services include administrative, janitorial, mailroom, call center and other staff augmentation opportunities; vocational training with host employers; business solutions at TNC (including light manufacturing, product assembly, kitting, packaging).
  2. Conducts research to determine additional leads.
  3. Develops and implements annual marketing and sales plans in support of Tommy Nobis Center goals and metrics.
  4. Researches pricing of products and services for new contracts and renewals.
  5. Leads preparation of bids and proposals for work that is compatible with the organizational mission.
  6. Leads all new commercial and non-Ability One contract pricing and negotiation efforts
  7. Accountable for a successful work plan, including budget development and controls, contract quality, customer satisfaction and additional pre-determined performance measurement goals.
  8. Provides outstanding customer service and ensures contract compliance for customers/agencies by maintaining outstanding quality service, trouble-shoots and problem solves when/where needed for Tommy Nobis Center contracts.
  9. Sets a positive example and drives our core values: mission-driven, accountability, innovation, integrity and fun.
  10. Is a cultural champion for the organization fostering an environment of trust, alignment, transparency and accountability.
  11. Interfaces closely with SourceAmerica, Georgia Enterprises, and other federal or state agencies in identifying new contract opportunities.

 

 

 

  1. Serves as a goodwill ambassador to all customer, potential customers, government contractors, subcontractors and other non-profit agencies. Attends various association meetings including State Use Council as required.
  2. Interacts professionally with government contractors, vendors, customers, persons with disabilities, and Vocational Rehabilitation Department.
  3. Complies with AbilityOne requirements, direct-labor ratios for applicable contracts.
  4. Ensures compliance of regulations and accreditations including DOL, CARF, SourceAmerica, OSHA and others as necessary.  Assists with audits involving such agencies.
  5. Prepares reports as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in management, contract administration, mathematics or related field

Experience:

          Required

  • 3 years’ experience in federal/state government business development.
  • 3 years’ commercial services/products business development.
  • Experience in administrative, janitorial, mailroom, call center or other staffing and/or products contracts.

Preferred

 

 

 

  • 3 years’ experience in contracts management, procurement, pricing, negotiations, administration and/or purchasing.
  • 3 years’ SourceAmerica and/or AbilityOne contracts experience.
  • Strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Non-profit business development.
  • Working knowledge of AbilityOne/JWOD requirements.
  • CARF knowledge helpful (Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities).

  • Requires strong computer skills in Microsoft Office focusing on Word and Excel
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles.
  • Limited travel outside metro area travel.
  • Must pass drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to qualify for security clearance to access military bases where contracts are in place or are secured.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and have a clean or acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) as defined by policy.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
