Executive Director

Covenant Community Inc., is a non-profit organization and successful life stabilization program providing recovery support for homeless, addicted men in the Atlanta community.  We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and professional Executive Director to execute our mission to provide the tools and resources to help our clients achieve personal life-stabilization and employment; enabling them to return to their families and the community as productive citizens.  The Executive Director is charged with the day-to-day management of Covenant Community and is the chief staff officer of the corporation, reporting to the Chair and Board of Directors. The Director will assist the Board Chair in carrying out the policies, programs, orders, and resolutions of the Board of Directors.

In addition to our traditional program, Covenant Community, Inc. also provides services through RRAM, our Addiction Recovery Support Center.  This peer led environment offers a set of non-clinical activities that engage, educate and support individuals and families successfully to make life changes necessary to establish, maintain and enhance recovery (health and wellness) from substance use disorders. The recovery activities are community-based services for individuals with a substance use disorder; and consist of activities that promote recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, well-being, and independence. Activities are individualized, recovery-focused, and based on a relationship that supports a person's ability to promote their own recovery

The Executive Director’s role is to motivate, direct and manage a therapeutic community serving homeless men in recovery. This individual will be responsible for establishing and executing major goals and objectives for the organization and providing leadership, direction and guidance of the organization’s activities.  Other key responsibilities include:

  • Representing the organization to regulatory bodies, other agencies, community and civic organizations, donors, funders and supporters, and the general public.
  • Ensuring compliance to standards in accordance with all government legislation, regulations and guidelines pertinent to the organization’s role as an employer and non-profit agency.
  • Ensuring that the program maintain appropriate and necessary accreditation, licensure and recognition; including, but not limited to, Georgia HFR licensure, CARF accreditation, and GARR recognition.
  • Ensuring that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work.
  • Employing, discharging, and supervising the employees of the organization.
  • Supervising and working closely with the Development Director in carrying out responsibilities for fundraising and public relations qualifications.
  • Perform executive duties and have authority and power as the Chair of the Board of Directors may from time to time prescribe.
  • Collaborate with and notify Board Chair and other persons as needed to effectively carryout job duties.
  • Consult with and keep the Board of Directors and all officers and committees fully informed about the business and affairs of Covenant Community.

Work history should reflect knowledge and understanding of non-profit leadership and management, staff supervision and development, addiction and addiction treatment. 

Masters in a Human Services related field preferred; education and experience equivalent – Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum of 5 years supervisory/management level experience.
