ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Safe & Sound (formerly the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center) is a children's advocacy organization working to prevent child abuse and reduce its devastating impact on the child, their family, and our entire community.

We have been a pioneer in the field of child abuse prevention, working within San Francisco for more 40 years. Recently the organization has begun to expand its impact working throughout the state of California.

Child Abuse is a complex problem, but a preventable one. Our data-informed approach leverages three primary strategies: we empower children with knowledge and confidence; we support families providing resources and skills; we activate the community and the change makers within it to create a thriving social safety net for children and their families.

The organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $8 million and is supported by approximately 60 staff, interns, and more than 80 volunteers. Safe & Sound's headquarters is located in a historic firehouse in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, with a second office in the Bayview neighborhood.

OVERALL SUMMARY

The Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue from current and prospective donors up to $1,000. The Donor Engagement Manager also provides comprehensive administrative assistance to the Development department, with a focus on office and fundraising support, effective database management and reporting, event logistics and donor stewardship efforts (acknowledgements, printed material inventory, prep materials for donor meetings). Paramount to this position is the ability to work with a high degree of independence, and juggle various projects at once, while maintaining a clear view of how each project supports the organization’s mission. This position will supervise the Development Associate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Donor Stewardship & Cultivation

  • Design, document, and implement a systematic and integrated donor relations program that encompasses moves management strategies, portfolio management and donor recognition.
  • Establish and manage information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications and continued cultivation of past and current donors to enhance their relationship with Safe & Sound and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
  • Create value-added touchpoints for our donors throughout the year.
  • Explore companies’ corporate social responsibility and/or workplace giving objectives that align with our mission statement to create engagement initiatives and opportunities.

Technology & Training

  • Serve as the in-house expert on the Salesforce database and provide advanced reporting and training to others as needed.
  • Provide or coordinate training in new systems and technology adopted by the Development Department or the organization.
  • Working with the Chief Development Officer (CDO), identify new technology, systems, and software upgrades that will advance the goals of the Development Department.
  • Maintain online profiles, including Charity Navigator and Guidestar.

Events

  • Lead and manage the Annual Russian River Ride.
  • Provide support for donor-related events (Annual Blue Ribbon Luncheon, Pinwheel Party, donor house parties, site visits, donor tours).
  • Take a lead role in day-of support with event set-up, volunteer management, and guest registration.
  • Attends internal and external meetings, including workplace giving fairs and cultural/community events as required.
  • Organize and execute activities around Child Abuse Prevention month in April.

Appeals

  • Works with CDO & Individual Giving Officer to create solicitation and year-round engagement strategies to retain current and attract new donors.
  • Serve as the main contact and liaison for the mailing house.
  • Assist with collating, printing, and proofing printed materials.
  • Solicit in-kind donations for various event.

Tracking & Reporting

  • Accurately update and maintain the donor database to ensure correct revenue projections and budget forecasting.
  • Working with the Development Associate, provide monthly income data, forecast, and dashboard reports to Finance Department and ensure that all data is reconciled.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Finance to create reports and reconcile finances for the annual audit and self-assessment processes and resolve any issues highlighted.

Undertake other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or above. Experience in social services, child welfare, or public health is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of non-profit fundraising experience.
  • Strong computer knowledge with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication and social skills, with large groups as well as with individuals.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, focused and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy.
  • Ability to think strategically about donor engagement.
  • High integrity, strong work ethic, thrives in a team environment with positive energy and proven results.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and across teams.
  • Ability to successfully manage a large volume of work, meet multiple and often competing deadlines, and respond with flexibility to unanticipated requests.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • A commitment to the safety and well-being of all children.

The base salary for this position is $79,200.00 annually and is eligible for agency sponsored benefits.
