Reports To:         Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary

To support Partners for HOME’s mission and strategic priorities by:

  • Leading all Resource Development lines of business including Corporate Relations, Major Gifts, New Business, Donor Relations, Fund Raising events, and Grant Writing while consistently maintaining superior donor relationships and increasing revenue.
  • Developing and implementing Marketing and Communication plans and strategies including public relations, media relations, on-line giving, digital communications, key messaging, storytelling, and brand experience.

Essential Functions

Drive Resources and Achieve Results

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with volunteers, community and business leaders, donors, and fund recipients to generate necessary resources
  • Meet annual fundraising goals per the development strategic operating plan
  • Develop and maintain a successful corporate, foundation, and individual solicitation program, including developing a strategic development plan, identifying priorities and prospects, and building resources and connections to implement the plan.
  • Create and manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual prospects, communicate with current and prospective donors to build relationships and secure grants and donation
  • Identify, recruit and develop new donor prospects on a year-round basis
  • Identify new grant opportunities
  • Initiate new ways to generate revenue by building and expanding network of donors
  • Ambitious yet realistic in setting revenue goals and objectives
  • Development long- and short- range plans that ensure long-term sustainability
  • Oversee all grant writing and submissions including the annual HUD CoC NOFA

Build Relationships and Inspire Investment

  • Convey energy, meaning and importance of PFH mission and work
  • Promote idea or vision, able to read the audience, and persuade others to take action
  • Deploy the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Board members and other resource people for donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Partner with the COO for Programs to ensure appropriate pursuit of and follow-through on funding opportunities.
  • Partner with the finance staff to ensure accurate acknowledgement, recording and reporting to funding sources.
  • Meet donor needs by providing strategies and opportunities that raise revenue and other resources while building trust and benefitting both parties
  • Focus on donor, actively listening to needs, interests and passions and connect to
    community work
  • Recognize the power of effective stewardship and development and implement relationship
    plans for donors of all giving levels
  • Cultivate and solicit contributions from prospective and current individual and corporate
    donors, and secure private grants
  • Engage with donors year-round, recognizing impact of gift, communicating progress and results, inspiring involvement and ensuring quality experience
  • Collect and record relevant donor and volunteer information to forge partnerships, increase engagement and sustain relationships
  • Participate in community activities which contribute to the acquisition and retention of individual donors

Effective, ENGAGING, and Innovative Communications Plan Development and Execution

  • Present compelling case to catalyze interest, link donor aspirations to needs and secure support
  • Distill complex information into a simple, clear message using examples, stories, and community information that are relevant and resonate with the donor, volunteer, and partner
  • Develop strategic briefing and communication materials
  • Write clearly and concisely, using multiple platforms to reach diverse audiences, effective public speaker and presenter
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive year-round communication plan to keep supporters and partners and stakeholders informed and engaged
  • Execute the development and implementation of social marketing, public and media relations, website content, communication/resource development materials and brand management
  • Diligent with appropriate follow-up and follow-through

Organizational Leadership

  • Recognize organization-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support accomplishment with staff team and volunteer talent
  • Work closely with leadership to understand PFH’s priorities and “products” in order to present clear information to community
  • Skilled fundraiser balancing strategic and operational needs
  • Value and leverage the power of external networks and relationships
  • Conduct, analyze and interpret internal and external research to support planning and development of organizational resource development and marketing strategies and plan
  • Progressive thinker, understanding philanthropic trends and best practices in donor-centered fund-raising
  • Effective presenter, active listener, open to new ideas, keeps supporters informed and engaged
  • Self-directed, pro-active and holds one-self accountable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of progressive experience in a similar role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in nonprofit fundraising, communications, and marketing
  • Ability to maintain knowledge and professional development in market research, business trends and fundraising trends that may impact needs and resources
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software
     

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Passion for the pursuit of creating a community where homelessness is rare, brief and nonrecurring
  • Baseline understanding and commitment to principles of Housing First, and other evidence-based practices in homeless services
  • Experience with federal funding requirements and programs
  • Proven ability and experience with grant writing both public and private
  • Able to develop and produce marketing and communication materials
  • Meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate mission, goals and outcomes effectively and persuasively
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills
  • Able to work (and thrive) under pressure
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not currently have any direct reports.

Founded in 2015, the mission of Partners for HOME is to coordinate a comprehensive response system to end homelessness in the City of Atlanta. Partners for HOME serves as the Collaborative Applicant for the Atlanta Continuum of Care (CoC) — a HUD program that promotes community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness and provides funding for efforts by nonprofit providers and state and local governments to quickly rehouse people impacted by homelessness. We bring together government, nonprofit, business and community stakeholders to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring.

While not a direct service provider, Partners for HOME is a nonprofit organization authorized by the Atlanta CoC and City of Atlanta to provide homeless response; fundraising and grantmaking; and performance and compliance management services to the local homeless ecosystem.
