The Grants and Financial Planning Analyst or Senior Grants and Financial Planning Analyst assists with grant budget development and reporting, as well as financial planning and analysis of an assigned portfolio of programs and projects. Reporting to the Senior Manager for Grants Administration and Financial Planning and working with internal partners, this role ensures the accurate tracking and reporting of foundation grants.

Responsibilities

Grant Budget Development and Reporting

  •  Assist with preparation of grant budget proposals for programs/projects in consultation with the Development Team and the Senior Manager for Grants Administration and Financial Planning.
  •  Create customized grant reports for funders, directors, and senior management.
  •  Provide supporting documentation for adjustments needed when tracking foundation grant budgets.
  •  Provide technical assistance and grant accounting support by uploading and maintaining grant budgets in accounting software.
  •  Monitor expenditure of grant funds and contract compliance in relation to labor distribution, grant budgets, and grant reporting.

Financial Planning and Analysis 

  •  Provide budgetary and financial planning support to assigned program areas and projects.
  •  Produce timely month-end reports of actual vs. budget results, ensuring accuracy and completeness; investigate, analyze, and explain variances from budget expense line items.
  •  Assist with preparation of the annual and mid-year budget for review by senior finance and executive leadership.
  •  Research and prepare periodic financial analyses and/or reports.

  

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  •  Grants Budget Analyst: At least five years of progressive experience developing, preparing, and monitoring grant budgets. A graduate degree in Finance may be substituted for two years’ work experience.
  •  Senior Grants Budget Analyst: At least seven years of progressive experience developing, preparing, and monitoring grant budgets. A graduate degree in Finance may be substituted for two years’ work experience.
  •  Two to five years of demonstrated experience with foundation grants in a not-for-profit environment.
  •  Experience using Microsoft Office, including medium to advanced Excel skills and experience using SharePoint, Word, and Outlook.
  •  Experience with Intacct and Vena is a preference but not required.
  •  Strong mathematic aptitude and abilities.
  •  Strong attention to details and accuracy.
  •  Strong oral and written communication skills.
  •  A commitment to the Center’s mission to improve the well-being of low- and moderate-income people and advance racial equity as part of the Center’s work.

 

This position reports to the Senior Manager for Grants Administration and Financial Planning.

Terms of Employment: Full-time, exempt.
Bargaining Unit Status: This is a bargaining unit position.

Compensation: Salary and title commensurate with experience; excellent benefits, including three health insurance options, dental and vision care, life and long-term disability insurance, retirement, and generous vacation leave, sick leave, and holiday schedules.
