Job Title: Program Director
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Pay Grade: Salaried, $80,000–$85,000
Benefits: Six holidays, sick time, PTO accrual, medical, dental, vision, life, and long term disability insurance.
The Program Director will be a visionary and effective leader who helps to achieve Brown Hope’s mission to lead community grounded initiatives to make justice a lived experience for Black, Brown, and Indigenous people in Oregon.
As the first Program Director for our growing nonprofit, the Program Director position is key to our success. If you are passionate about justice for Black, Brown and Indigenous people in Oregon this is an opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to develop program frameworks, share successful metrics and engage with the community in an honest and transparent manner.

- provide leadership in program design, impact evaluation, and advocacy.
- provide collaborative leadership in resource development, grants writing and management, while also promoting and maintaining solid community collaborations, with an equity based lens.
- demonstrate a commitment to developing and executing informed strategies, with clear metrics and outcomes identified, and credibly represent Brown Hope and its community partners, both locally and nationally.

Brown Hope is a community solution for racial justice. We develop Black, Brown, and Indigenous leaders to create powerful strategies that build community resilience and inspire transformational change. Guided by our 12 Principles of Hope, we organize four programs which help to advance our goals to transfer power and capital to Black, Brown, and Indigenous Oregonians: Blackstreet Bakery, Power Hour, Black Resilience Fund, and Equity & Beyond. As a nonprofit incubator, our programs evolve to meet critical needs in the community.

- 4+ years of nonprofit program management experience
- Understanding of Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities, including historic and contemporary
- Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment and able to troubleshoot quickly
- A flexible problem solver, good at striking the balance between innovation and continuity, deliberation and action, independence and collaboration
- Ability to work independently and with minimal direction, showing initiative, creativity, self-discipline, effective time and project management skills
- Knowledge of trauma informed care models
- Experience with program research and evaluation
- Be a culturally competent leader: eager to learn, open to diversity, a good listener, and capable of working well with people from different backgrounds and identities
- Significant experience in grant writing and management
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written and listening communication
- Integrity, credibility, and passion for supporting the communities Brown Hope serves
- Experienced and competent in online tools for remote team work, communication, and documentation (particularly G Suite, Zoom, Slack)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the quality and success of all aspects of program operations, management, relationships, staff and volunteer training and supervision.
- Work with leadership to develop and implement plans for strategic priorities, operational infrastructure, systems, processes, and personnel.
- Foster a learning culture within the organization, to identify solutions to issues challenging program success, and inspire greater collective impact
- Invest time and resources in training, development, support for, and succession of program staff to accomplish goals and to build team members capability and confidence.
- Create program measurement tools, oversee data collection and evaluate outcomes
- Monitor program budgets, create and execute timelines, oversee grant and contract compliance
- Strengthen relationships with/for significant private and government grants and contracts.
- Assist with concepts for development and marketing, and continues to position Brown Hope as a thought leader around its defined mission and goals.
- Build Brown Hope’s advocacy program by developing partnerships and coalitions with other racial justice organizations.
- Represent the organization at conferences and other public events; leading activities, speaking roles and trainings
