Abode Services, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Clinical Program Manager for Leigh Avenue Permanent Supportive Housing Project. This position will be provide leadership, support, and oversight to a multidisciplinary
team for our Leigh Avenue Permanent Supportive Housing project to assist seniors (age 55 or older) who are chronically homeless to maintain their housing. This team will engage, house and provide wraparound clinical supportive services to 63 chronically homeless households, vulnerable seniors who have Serious Mental Health Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, and/or Chronic Health Conditions.

How You Make an Impact:

  • Provide strategic leadership to a multi-disciplinary integrated service team to ensure successful implementation, coordination, and evaluation of services.
  • Ensure that programs comply with funding regulations, goals, and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Provide direct supervision to staff.  Provide regular and appropriate feedback including hiring and termination, training and coaching, opportunities for professional growth, verbal and written improvement plans when needed, and regular evaluations.  
  • Maintain effective public relations.  Develop relationships with the community-at-large to instill support and confidence in the agency and project.  Serve as a spokesperson for agency and program when called upon.  Speak publicly about the progress and efficacy of the program to interested stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing materials, assessment tools, job descriptions, and other program processes/documents/tools for the program. Assist in developing policy and procedures and other aspects of programs.
  • Ensure overall program compliance to HIPPA guidelines.
  • Provide support to staff when dealing with clients’ crisis.
  • Facilitate regular case conferencing meetings both internally and with external partners. 
  • Ensure that all program staff under your leadership are meeting the goals as set-forth in their program’s respective grants.

How You Meet the Qualifications:

  • MSW or MA/MS in Psychology from an accredited university and registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an ASW/AMFT plus 4 years’ experience working as a graduate level clinician required.  Licensure as a LCSW or LMFT in the state of California preferred.  Salary commensurate with experience, education, and licensure status.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience managing a multi-disciplinary mental health program, coordinating services, and supervising staff.  
  • Must possess 2 years of field experience working with chronically homeless seniors (age 55 or older) dealing with serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders and/or complex health issues. 
  • Deep understanding of the following evidence-based practices: Housing First,
  • Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population with multiple special needs, and be comfortable building successful collaborative relationships with participants, staff, property managers, and with the larger community and county systems while networking and building resources.
  • Strong ability to represent the interests of the agency.  Must be comfortable speaking publicly to stakeholders about this highly visible program. 
  • Excellent verbal skills. Strong organizational, detail orientated, and time management skills.
  • Possess an understanding of and practice cultural sensitivity through open dialogue and self-exploration with diverse groups, while providing direct services. 
  • Ability to intervene effectively in crises situations, with de-escalation techniques, especially while on-call with the crisis emergency phone.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs.
  • Reliable transportation and proof of a valid and current California Driver's License and current insurance along with a clean DMV record required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and evenings providing staff support as needed while they manage the crisis line and address client concerns.
