Position Description:

Christian City launched their newest program, Crossroads Foster Care and Adoption in 2018 and the program has continued to grow. The Human Services Professional will be responsible for providing case-management services to families/children that come into the program, as well as assisting in the completion of home studies for prospective foster/adoptive homes. This position will report to the Foster Care & Adoptions Supervisor for the Crossroads Program.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain child/family case record to include materials consistent with agency, licensing, accreditation, and contract requirements
  • Complete the home study process with prospective foster/adoptive parents (home visits, reference checks, health and safety checks, etc.)
  • Complete bi-weekly visits with the child/family, or more as needed
  • Assist family/custody holder in developing and implementing a plan for the client’s permanency, including responsibilities for each family member and a timeline for completion of these goals
  • Ensure full well-being of children on your caseload through proper referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, etc.
  • Provide training to foster/adoptive parents as needed
  • Meet deadlines for required reporting
  • Provide support to foster/adoptive families to ensure retention
  • Work with Crossroads team to recruit foster/adoptive families
  • Participate in community events on behalf of Crossroads
  • Input information pertaining to foster/adoptive families and referrals into each needed database
  • Remain on call 24/7 to respond to emergency situations
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field OR a Bachelor’s Degree with several years of experience in the field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in foster/adoptive field preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Certified in IMPACT FCP Training preferred, or willing to secure in an agreed upon timeframe
  • Completed RBWO Foundations Training preferred, or willing to secure in an agreed upon timeframe
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willing to secure in an agreed upon timeframe
  • Problem solving ability and time management skills
  • Proficiency in technology (MS Office and Extended Reach)
  • Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • Acceptable criminal records checks, child abuse records, motor vehicle report and drug screening

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to talk and hear; stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Employee must be able to frequently lift or move up to 10 lbs.
