Position

Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO, the Director of Development will define and spearhead development efforts as Invisible Hands continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to build the development branch of our organization through strategic placement of volunteers, advertising materials, grant applications, fundraising events, and more as we transition from an emergency crisis response to a sustainable nonprofit organization.

This role is built for ambitious self-starters who set high goals and see them through. While they will be the only employee in the Development wing of Invisible Hands, they will also be expected to be in consistent communication with the operations team, to ensure smooth, steady, and accurate reporting and solicitation materials.

 

Responsibilities

Our Director of Development will be responsible for implementing our development plan, and will perform the following tasks, among others:

  • Develop and execute Invisible Hands’ annual fundraising plan
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Manage and implement donor recruitment and retention programs and software
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
  • Create and sustain a strategy for the curation of a large base of annual individual donors
  • Organize and oversee fundraising events
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for foundation and corporate fundraising

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has 2+ years of professional experience in fundraising and development or similar sales experience
  • Experience in a start-up or start-up like environment wearing many hats and improvising as needed
  • Has a proven track record in rapidly growing an organization’s budget through individual donors, foundations, and corporate partnerships
  • Has excellent organizational, delegation and prioritization skills
  • Is skilled at volunteer management and retention
  • Is a highly skilled communicator who is able to navigate difficult conversations with tact
  • Has superb writing and editing skills
  • Is passionate, positive, and people-oriented
  • Is used to a dynamic, ever-changing environment
