Intern Job Description

Position Summary:

Statewide Legal Services of CT is hiring a part-time intern to conduct survey interviews.  This intern will help construct a social media campaign to identify clients that have meaningful stories to tell regarding the impact of health care affordability on their lives.  The intern will also collect these impactful stories from individuals utilizing a pre-written script.  The intern will work with SLS to retain a database of the interviewees for tracking purposes and future use.

This position will have a flexible schedule that allows for day, evening, and weekend hours.  This is a great opportunity for college students looking to build their resumes, people looking for a second/supplemental income, or anyone desiring a part-time schedule that offers flexibility and meaningful work.  This is a temporary, part-time, remote position.  This position will start immediately and will end December 30, 2020.

Essential Job Function Requirements:

  • Experience with social media outreach and cohort building.
  • Excellent organizational skills to multi-task, collect, and utilize data.
  • Ability to conduct surveys by phone; putting people at ease and utilizing a pre-written script.
  • Ability to accurately document and track work progress and status both on and offline.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive, caring, professional rapport with people from a variety of different backgrounds.
  • Maintain neutrality by asking questions as written, staying on script, and using non-directional probing to get accurate answers to questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Applicants with experience or college coursework in communications, marketing, social media, social services, health care, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Experience:

Outreach, social media presence, surveying, canvassing, or other similar experience is desirable, but not required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bilingual (Spanish), a plus.
  • Communication skills with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to summarize data into a story.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Highly self-directed, self-starter.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic Windows-based computer skills and ability to accurately record data.

Compensation:

$17.00 per hour.  Approximately 8 - 10 hours per week for approximately 16 weeks.  No benefits will be provided.
