Director of Major Gifts, TeachBeyond US/Canada

Our teachers use their skills and contexts to bring Christ’s light and healing to all – children, adults, leaders, and mission workers alike. We are now seeking a Director of Major gifts to grow the work of the mission so we may impact more individuals and communities around the world.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for raising major gifts to fuel the global ministry of TeachBeyond, the position will develop, communicate, and facilitate the execution of a TeachBeyond plan for obtaining, nurturing, and developing financial partners for mission

LOCATION: Remote, with preference to be based in the United States in a location with quality transportation links and likely sources of major donors 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Personal Skills:

  • Passion for Christ and the Gospel; active participant in a local church community
  • Motivated by TeachBeyond’s mission and vision of transformational education
  • Life philosophy that aligns with TeachBeyond policies, objectives, and doctrine
  • Mature Christian experience, sound judgment and professional skill
  • A passionate commitment to generosity and helping major givers understand the role their financial partnership can play in the Kingdom.
  • Self-starter who can conceptualize and take action with minimum supervision

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in personal and/or organizational fundraising
  • Evidence of administrative competency seen in the successful management of teams and personnel
  • Experience with cross cultural communication

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills that permit one to deal effectively with educators, professional staff, and business contacts
  • Demonstrated competence in fundraising best practices and a robust theology of fundraising
  • Ability to analyze problems, plan for change, and implement strategies 
  • Growing ability to maximize the effective use of Office365 tools within TeachBeyond
  • Ability to creatively leverage digital fundraising technology and approaches

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • To develop, refine, and execute a comprehensive plan for increasing giving to the TeachBeyond Global Impact Fund to meet the following goals:
    • During the first full calendar year of appointment, the employee will increase the overall Global Impact Fund giving to a sustained level of $300,000 USD or more per year
    • By the third year of appointment, the employee will facilitate the increase of total Global Impact Fund to an annual level of $500,000 USD or greater
    • Within five years of appointment, the employee will facilitate the increase of total Global Impact Fund giving to an annual level of over $1,000,000 USD
  • Analyze current TeachBeyond Global Impact Fund donor base and ensure meaningful relationships between major donors and TeachBeyond leaders
  • Identify and qualify prospective donors, engaging them in personal meetings and financial partnership appeals
  • Through small group meetings or larger presentations, share updates and compelling calls to action with churches and key groups of potential partners
  • Sustain and expand major donor relationships through the development of personalized stewardship plans to engage donors in growing their relationship with TeachBeyond
  • Grow and lead a Major Gifts team of employees and volunteers committed to helping meet the increasing Global Impact Fund annual goals
  • Develop and continually refine scripts and presentation tools that can be used by the Major Gifts team to effectively share the TeachBeyond mission and vision with individuals, churches, and groups
  • Connect major donors with giving opportunities available through TeachBeyond school/project capital campaigns according to donor interest and campaign needs
  • Collaborate with the TeachBeyond Planned Giving Department to communicate legacy giving opportunities for major donors
