A. Job Summary

The Director of Development serves on a team to accomplish the agency’s mission of providing services to adult and adolescent survivors of rape and educating the community and especially young people toward the prevention of rape by managing all aspects of the center’s annual fund-raising efforts

B. Duties and Responsibilities

*          Works with key staff, board and advisory members and volunteers to establish partnerships and raise contributed dollars across segments to support the organization’s programs including

  1. Communicates the organization’s mission, programs and visions
  2. Provides monthly report to Board including grants/ activities calendar;

*           Works to develop and maintain a comprehensive strategic plan to include donor solicitation strategies to targeted individuals, corporations and businesses, foundations, special events, and in-kind donations

            

  1. Researches, plans for approaching, and coordinates efforts toward new and existing funding sources.
  2. Coordinates research, identification, cultivation and solicitation of new donor prospects.
  3. Maintains database of donors.
  4. Coordinates donor recognition and relationship management.
  5. Manages / coordinates all fundraising events with active set of volunteers.
  6. Manages annual fund drive
  7. Writes grants - both new and renewal with assistance of Executive Director
  8. Maintains and manages grants calendar

*           Manages communications and marketing of the organization, including awareness campaigns, message and brand development, print and electronic materials, media relations and social media outreach including

  1. Responsible for the production of agency’s quarterly newsletters
  2. Published annual report and other fundraising documents
  3. Develops and manages ongoing social media, web, and other content
  4. Develops and oversees Day League’s digital brand strategy 
  5. Responsible for completing outcome-based administrative reports in a        consistent and timely manner per grant guidelines

*          Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

        

C. Major Opportunities:

*          Must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects

*          Skill working with diverse teams, clients and populations

*          A high level of confidentiality must be maintained.

*          Some evening and weekend work required.

*          Must be able to travel, primarily within the state, and have own vehicle.

D. Administrative Guidelines

*          This is a full-time position. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director.

 

E. Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Qualifications:
Understanding of survivor advocacy work

Appreciation of the volunteer sector

Impressive track record of creative fundraising and public relations

Proven experience in developing and managing comprehensive fundraising programs;
Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with significant donors and the general public on behalf of the center;
High-end special events management experience;
Experience activating and supporting an active voluntary Board;
Computer, database, and technological savvy and/ or willingness to learn new programs;
Grant and proposal writing experience;
Superior analytical and strategic thinking, priority management, and follow-through;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
At least 3 years of experience in a fundraising/development setting.

Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience.

Range: $45,000 to $60,000 annually
