Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Summary

The Piedmont Park Conservancy, a nonprofit organization, is a member and donor-funded organization working in partnership with the city of Atlanta to fulfill its mission: to enhance and preserve Piedmont Park as a vital, urban green space, and as a cultural and recreational resource that enriches the quality of life for all Atlantans. Since 1989, over $66 million has been invested into Piedmont Park through capital improvements raised by the Conservancy. Today, the Conservancy requires over $3.5 million dollars in donations every year in order to manage and enhance Piedmont Park and its programs.

Position Overview

The Piedmont Park Conservancy seeks an experienced and motivated individual for the position of Grants and Database Manager. This position is a key member of the Marketing and Development Department and is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s grants campaign including research, writing and submission, management and reporting. This position is also responsible for managing the database needs of the organization. The position reports to the Chief Development Officer. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grants Campaign:

  • Maintain and expand support by overseeing the grants portfolio.
  • Write grant proposals and renewals to fund Conservancy programs, infrastructure and other activities.
  • Responsible for grant compliance including communication of funding requirements, timely submission of required statistical and narrative reports.
  • Develop a deep understanding of program content to ensure integrity and quality of proposal writing.
  • Provide reporting and compliance review as necessary during the life of the grant.
  • Oversee the Grants calendar and maintain accurate records for all institutional donors.
  • Research new potential foundation and corporate funders to grow funding base.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with key staff to analyze funding needs, gaps and opportunities.
  • Meet with program directors to review and recommend grant opportunities.
  • Submit suggestions for modifications and negotiations of grant renewals.
  • Prepare and compile all components of each grant submission, ensuring that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements.
  • Develop and maintain specialized systems for recording and tracking grant-related information including funder research files, grant application deadlines, grant reporting schedules, and other information as needed.
  • Work with finance and appropriate program staff to track fund disbursement and develop financial reports.
  • Complete and submit to funders mid-term and final reports, and other required paperwork.

Database

  • Responsible for ensuring overall database integrity and accuracy, including, configuration, database administration, and maintenance.
  • Directly responsible for providing reporting needs of the Development team.
  • Prepare custom and system generated reports for Development staff including, but not limited to, financial and gift reports, specialized listings for communication and/or solicitation purposes.
  • Reconcile contributions received and designations with the Finance department.
  • Serve as primary liaison with Blackbaud to resolve issues related to eTapestry.
  • Assist with department special event planning and execution as needed.
  • Other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare grant proposals, budgets and outcomes for a wide variety of projects.
  • Excellent user of office technology and information systems (including Word and Excel), and donor databases, preferably eTapestry or Raiser’s Edge.
  • Team player with strong relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends as needed.
  • Strict adherence to ethical and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Knowledge of grant research and application processes preferred.
  • 2 - 5 plus years of fundraising experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
