Job Details

The Crisis Counselor provides crisis support for youth enrolled in the Irvington STEP Program. Counselors will facilitate daily group session and individual support in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. Counselors will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth enrolled in the program, and will intervene as necessary to assist the youth in developing skills for growth and maintaining stabilization. Crisis Counselors will participate in the daily clinical treatment planning with the multi-disciplinary team and assist the Clinician with case management duties as appropriate.

STEP stands for SkillsTransitionsExploration and Progress. This program is a partnership between Kaiser Permanente and Seneca, providing Partial Hospitalization services to youth ages 12-17.  Youth in the STEP program receive services provided by a Psychiatrist, Registered Nurse, Master’s level Clinicians, and a Bachelors level Counselor. The goal of the STEP program is to provide intensive, short-term and stabilization services to enable our clients to step down to lower levels of outpatient mental health treatment.

The main treatment modality is group therapy. Groups include a skills group, recreational group, circle group, and future focus.  All groups are designed to teach youth the skills necessary to help them learn about their mental health, provide psychoeducation, and help them learn skills to feel better and be safe.

Seneca Family of Agencies is committed to providing traditionally marginalized communities a network of outstanding mental health, community based, and educational services. Celebrating diversity and creating a culture of inclusion increases creativity, innovation, problem solving, and teamwork. Seneca’s agency-wide DEI Advisory Board, Employee Resource Groups, and Language Practice Groups help our employees provide culturally and linguistically relevant services to the families we serve.
