The Etowah Scholarship Foundation in Cartersville, Georgia, is seeking an Executive Director.

Established in 1982, ESF is seeking an Executive Director to assume responsibility for providing strategic leadership and direction to move the organization into the next stage of its development. The ED reports directly and works closely with the board of directors and manages two part-time staff members.

The Etowah Scholarship Foundation’s Mission is to expand post-secondary educational opportunities for students through community-funded and Foundation scholarships that result in a celebration of educational successes and in a positive impact on the quality of life for citizens of our community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee fundraising and gift cultivation to fund scholarships, programs and operation expenses
• Maintain personal contact with donors and establish new donors
• Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
• Manage the scholarship application process by selecting the Scholarship Review Board (SRB), developing and tracking student applications, and coordinating all details for the SRB to select recipients
• Regularly communicate with the board of directors to keep them fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it
• Attend all board and committee meetings
• Build an effective board of directors
• Oversee grant requests and marketing efforts
• Draft and present the annual budget
• Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals
• Develop and maintain sound financial practices and be fiscally responsible with expenditures
• Work as a support partner with all school systems
• Build partnerships with local community leaders and members to advance the mission of the Foundation
• Maintain strict confidence with all aspects of the Foundation
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the board of directors necessary to improve and enhance the work and mission of the Foundation to accomplish its goals

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• Education and/or experience – Minimum qualifications of a Bachelor’s Degree, plus five years related management experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience in educational community, but not required.
• Strong fundraising and gift cultivation
• Superior oral and written communication skills including public speaking
• Expertise for crafting speeches, articles for publication and marketing materials
• Understanding functions of not-for-profit organizations and available resources
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents
• Ability to calculate complex formulas

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The office work environment is that of a typical small office where the entire staff is expected to pitch in with various office duties.  Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Work hours may include Fridays (office is closed to general public) and occasional required evening events and functions.
