About The Atlanta Children’s Shelter:
The Atlanta Children’s Shelter – The Atlanta Children’s Shelter (ACS) is a private 501 (c)(3) nonprofit agency that provides free childcare and family support services to homeless families striving to achieve self-sufficiency. Dedicated to helping families overcome the issues that contribute to homelessness, including domestic violence and job loss, the Atlanta Children's Shelter focuses on the long term self sufficiency of the family – which sets us apart from other Atlanta homeless shelters. Since 1986, the Atlanta Children’s Shelter has cared for almost 8,000 children and provided services for more than 5,000 families.
Job Summary
The Development Coordinator reports to the Donor Relations Manager as a member of the organization’s development team. The overall responsibility for the Development Coordinator are cultivating individual donors and managing the volunteer program.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for cultivation and stewardship of individual donors for financial support and in-kind donations to help meet organizational needs.
- Plan and execute donor engagement events including donor appreciation campaigns, community lunch and learn series, etc.
- Provide support for fundraising events including post event donor follow-up.
- Accept community donations and provide tours of the Shelter to guests.
- Coordinate and manage volunteer opportunities for program activities and events.
- Triage and respond to general information requests from the community received through the organization’s website and voicemail.
- Assists with timely submission of grant proposals and grant reports.
- Responsible for timely data entry and donor acknowledgment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure and produce quality work product within tight time constraints.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and have advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of mail merge functions and on-line database management systems is a plus.
- The ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing.
- Superior organizational skills and accuracy in order to set priorities, organize workload and handle multiple responsibilities.
- A pleasant and courteous telephone manner - able to appropriately handle general information calls about the organization from the general public in a tactful manner. This position has extensive telephone exposure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other ACS employees.
